Need some help here...

The story about the informants in the January 6th mob, is there any credible reports on this?

Because all I've seen so far are Faux "news" reposts.

BBC - FBI informants were at Capitol riot but no agents, watchdog finds

BBC News, Washington

More than two dozen FBI informants were in Washington DC ahead of the riot at the US Capitol on 6 January 2021, but no full-time undercover agents were present or took part in the riot itself, according to a new justice department report.

The report said none of the agency's informants were authorised to enter the Capitol or join the riot, but four did enter the building.

The report also found that the FBI failed in the "basic step" of adequately using its field offices across the US to gather intelligence that could have predicted the riot.

Some on the right, including House Republicans, have for years promoted a fringe conspiracy theory that the FBI helped to orchestrate the riot.

On the day of the riot, a mob stormed the Capitol as the 2020 presidential election was being certified.

Pertaining to the findings of the inspector generals report on this subject matter.

■○■○■○■○■○

Social media users are misrepresenting a report released Thursday by the Justice Department inspector general's office, falsely claiming that it's proof the FBI orchestrated the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

The watchdog report examined a number of areas, including whether major intelligence failures preceded the riot and whether the FBI in some way provoked the violence. Claims spreading online focus on the report's finding that 26 FBI informants were in Washington for election-related protests on Jan. 6, including three who had been tasked with traveling to the city to report on others who were potentially planning to attend the events.

Although 17 of those informants either entered the Capitol or a restricted area around the building during the riot, none of the 26 total informants were authorized to do so by the bureau, according to the report. Nor were they authorized to otherwise break the law or encourage others to do so.

Here's a closer look at the facts.

They were questioning the validity of Fascist News Influencers and what Faux Gnooz was stating - that the Inspector General's report proves the FBI agents incited and instigated the MAGA riot at the Capitol.

The OP was asking for any links to refute this because they thought that the assertion was not accurate or true.

So links were provided to the OP to show how right-wing news influencers were fabricating the story that the FBI was to blame for J-6 and trashing of the US Capitol and not MAGA DJT GOONS.

OP was requesting a link to correct this issue as presented by the Right-wing nut jobs - smearing the FBI so they could exonerate MAGA's role in being the J-6 insurrectionists who's goal was a Coup d'etat to then install their Orange Messiah as the 46th US President. The Fascists hope to dump all the blame at the doorstep of the FBI.

Then the Fascists can rationalize the need to install djt ultra-loyalist K$h Patel as the new FBI director to clean up the ficticious "Mess" at the FBI.

I wish people here at Democratic Underground were not so quick to stomp on someone for asking a question or making an inquiry to achieve a better level of understanding in matters involving today's convoluted political spheres.

Democratic Underground is a discussion board,... why demean, or squelch, or blackball healthy political discussions where people share resources available to them with others ?

When a Justice Department investigation discredited a key Jan. 6 conspiracy theory, Donald Trump cynically tried to tweak the absurd underlying claim

https://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/maddowblog/trumps-effort-move-jan-6-goalposts-literally-unbelievable-rcna184331

Proponents of Jan. 6 conspiracy theories are probably accustomed to embarrassing setbacks, but last week was especially brutal. The Justice Department’s inspector general, Michael Horowitz, unveiled the detailed findings of a four-year investigation, which concluded that while there were FBI informants at the Capitol, no FBI officials were responsible for instigating the attack......

No, I’m just kidding. The president-elect actually published an item to his social media platform, shortly before midnight on Friday night, that cynically tried to move the goalposts.

“Wow! This is big news,” the Republican wrote. “What a disgrace. Let J-6 Hostages out NOW!!!”

This came on the heels of Vice President-elect JD Vance taking a related step, pretending that humiliating news for Jan. 6 conspiracy theorists should actually be seen as evidence that helps Jan. 6 conspiracy theorists.

But these efforts are literally unbelievable. As we discussed last week, too many Republicans and their allies have spent nearly four years pushing the idea that federal law enforcement instigated the insurrectionist assault. The absurd claims grew so common that they were given a name: The “fedsurrection“ narrative was rooted in the idea that it was the FBI, and not Trump’s rabid followers, that was responsible for the violence at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.....

Nevertheless, the incoming president is very likely to reference last week’s revelations when he prepares pardons for Jan. 6 criminals. In fact, as part of Time magazine’s latest cover story on Trump, published last week, the Republican not only said he intends to issue these pardons, he added that he hopes to do so “maybe” within “the first nine minutes” of his second term.

I’m not quite sure how that would work — perhaps he’ll interrupt his own inaugural address? — but time will tell.

As for the nature of Trump's plan, NBC News reported that the president-elect has expressed confusion about key elements — he’s said, for example, that he thinks most or all Jan. 6 defendants were being held in a Washington, D.C., jail, for example, when in fact only a handful of defendants are still being held pretrial — and even some of the Republican’s allies have expressed concern about his “level of awareness of the details.”
