Coming to 50 states soon: How Florida governance works:

First, they kill laws that protect you, Second, they'll drag their feet looking for numbers of the dead count.

Here's what De Santis did in April 2024:

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has signed a law that prevents cities or counties from creating protections for workers who labor in the state's often extreme and dangerous heat.

Two million people in Florida, from construction to agriculture, work outside in often humid, blazing heat.

For years, many of them have asked for rules to protect them from heat: paid rest breaks, water, and access to shade when temperatures soar. After years of negotiations, such rules were on the agenda in Miami-Dade County, home to an estimated 300,000 outdoor workers.

But the new law, signed Thursday evening, blocks such protections from being implemented in cities and counties across the state.

Here's the inevitable result: Workers die from excessive heat. Companies don't report it. From our legislators: Crickets

We were the only state that voted in more Democrats this cycle. Had a great governor Jay Inslee and the new one is fantastic, too.

at the last minute that allows them to withhold the last paycheck of the worker who dies and any company life insurance payment in order to "offset the enormous inconvenience to the corporation of the worker dying and having to be removed from the job-site and replaced".

It's always been that way. "Florida Man" is a decades-old term. Fly into DisneyWorld and then fly out. Do not take interstates to that state. You need to cross some of the most retrograde states with knuckle-dragging SS-tattooed state troopers.

I grew up in Panama. We had ocean breezes. There was a dry season, but I don't ever remember it being as hot as Florida.

And I don't remember laborers taking the kind of abuse that exists in the U.S. Probably a combination of far better Christian teachings and...laborers carried their own tools, like machetes? That last part if a wild guess. Culturally speaking, they treated their workers better.

You have to start by recognizing you have those of very modest means, and those who think they're cream of the crop.

You start there.

The upper crust latinos are worse than MAGA republicans. They want to exploit cheap labor. That's their culture. But the middle to lower class can be reached by one of their own.

The most difficult thing will be to show them how Democrats are better equipped to help them, when the fact is that they can't take their mind off things like the gay issue. That's what I mean by one of their own has to reach them.

I don't know anything about the young latinos. If it's possible that they're more progressive, that's where we need to start.

for that, we need to be willing able to ATTACK THE CHURCHES, especially the Catholic ones who think Trump is their meal ticket to power. Mp father nice guy, no sister nice girl, you are a part of the problem, and if you insist on being that problem, expect to be pushed aside, especially when you try to STEAL money for schools.

descent. And that won't happen until they pick someone of Latino American descent to talk to them.

Er, that won't even help. For every Liberal Latinx, there are at least three priests and ministers telling people that is they vote liberal, their daughter will all turn lesbian, their sons will turn xgender lesbians and the family will go to hell It is why they more weasely in the self addressed centrists (I am looking at you Cenk and Maher) are trying to get the democrats to ignore the civil rights they call "identity politics." translated, that means "hate the gays and the blacks and all will be fine, just like the 90's:

You have to start by recognizing you have those of very modest means, and those who think they're cream of the crop.

as altinx, I do get tired of some of my relatives who think they are aristocrats, even though their house looks like a documentary. And heaven frobid that you point out they are not pale spainairds.

listen mis amigos on the Latin GOP, when they get the chance, your gringo friends will be the first to hang you, right next to the negroes you hated.
