https://bsky.app/profile/patriottakes.bsky.social/post/3lddt6zphds2qRepublican Governor Larry Hogan posted video of the constellation Orion and claimed the stars were large drones above his home.
Just a reminder that Republicans want to shut down the Department of Education.
End snip.
Mother of gawd. Take your children and loved ones out and show them constellations, the North Star, how a compass works. It will be more helpful to them.

(48,536 posts)You point it at any part of the sky and the names of the things youre looking at show up next to them on the screen. Stars, planets, constellations
whatever.
It has this background music thats a loud whooshing sound with like a loud repeating sonar ping, but you can turn that off.
Theres a feature thatll outline and name all the constellations that appear on the screen. I turn that off, too, unless I need it. The screen gets way too busy for an iPhone.
But its awesome. Ive been using it for years and I really like it. Comes in super handy when I look up and wonder, Hey! Whats that?

Think what a miracle this app is compared to the dedicated souls who mapped our heavens out for hundreds of years.
Further getting my nerd on, I was also able to stand on the Greenwich Meridian.

(4,989 posts)Even if one doesn't know which constellation they are looking at they should at least be able to tell a star from a drone. Come on people. It's not like he just glanced up into the sky for a moment. Yes, I know light pollution has made us ignorant of our night sky, but that is simply too stupid. No wonder we elected a thug as president.

Without critical thinking skills, the liar-in-chief can say, "They are eating the cats and dogs." And for the cult followers, that is now the fact!

(9,900 posts)That a lot of the so-called reports of "drones" is actually planes or helicopters or even stars.
This is a perfect example of mass hysteria meets ignorance and they have a baby.
