Every election cycle, Democrats campaign on issues they believe voters care about, such as the economy, healthcare, and education. Meanwhile, Republicans often focus on identity politics, emphasizing topics like critical race theory, wokeness, , transgender and DEI. These issues frequently trigger strong emotional responses from voters, leading many to vote Republican. Afterward, both the media spin the narrative, claiming Democrats should abandon so-called identity politics and focus instead on the issues voters supposedly care aboutlike the economy.

(25,320 posts)With some "I'm a man" identity mixed in which clicks with non-white men and women too.
All about identity politics for them.
That said the modern Dems have moved more towards identity politics, than economic, than I would like.
But the rethugs are 100% identity politics. And eggs of course for the mildly emotionally and psychologically and intellectually slow voters

(548 posts)This is what they do. As you said, *THEY* are the ones who engage in identity politics and then they turn around and accuse Democrats of doing it. Like most of what the GOP practices it is hypocrisy, gaslighting, confession, and projection. It can drive me crazy if I think about it too much....

(19,320 posts)They could do commercials from people who were successful from DEI and other programs. Show transgender head of a business and family and show the successes and point out they are just like everyone. Lack of experience with DEI and transgenders is part of why repugs used fear. We should counter the message hard and fast.
