because the IP is subject to Chinese export controls, and the CCP has been quite clear that they will not grant an export permit, if only to embarrass the United States.
So if TikTok is withdrawn / banned from U.S. App stores, while still available in the EU / UK / Canada / Mexico etc. what is next for U.S. pretensions about free speech?
For the record, I have never believed thatRepublicans are fretting about national security here, it is more the a 'liberal' bias on the platform.

(10,404 posts)Something like 380-60 in the House and 79-19 in the Senate. Biden's administration argued that it being subject to CCP controls was a problem.
So this was a pretty bipartisan endeavor.
I dunno what this is going to look like. Pissed off Gen Z'ers incoming.

There are alternatives; people will adjust.
