I'm older, grumpier, and I'm convinced half of the "squad" helped tank Harris... but I have to admit, AOC has been remarkably on-message, courageous, and effective. I've come to believe we need this fresh infusion of modern, younger voices in leadership.

They simply were swept up in an Israel/Palestine policy divide that didn't exist for the repukes (who made the politically expedient decision to go 100% Israel).

The sad thing is the youth will with hindsight probably come to be regarded as having had it right and that Israel did overstep many legal and moral boundaries in its response. Our burden is now that those voices have been removed they will likely become discontents that are harder to get into the voting booth. I hope a path to reconciliation with that demographic is in the party's plan.

I don't think they personally tanked Harris--rather they exemplified the policy divide that was always going to be tricky to navigate because Israel of course is important to stand with but the support for Palestinian life is significant and growing. Harris and Biden tried to split it down the middle (likely informed by internal analysis) and I suspect the results were better than if she had gone 100% either way.

the party will fail again. Something has to change.

No doubt we should have won in 2016 and 2024. Especially 2024, knowing what a loser Trump was. People aren't showing up at the voting booth and we're losing the younger generation to the con man, rapist, fascist, and fraudster. How does that even happen?
