Pardon my ignorance here, but isn't Biden still President until January 20?

What's with this almost complete radio silence? Other than the pardon of his son, it's like he's not there. It doesn't seem like Congress is there, either. Where's our party leadership and how are they preparing for resistance against this existential threat to our democracy.

Or are those just words, and they're going to be content sitting around, holding office, collecting my tax dollars to pay their salary and riding it out until circumstances change. But who's going to be the leaders who have the courage to help bring about the change?

Yeah, I guess I'm on a ledge, waiting to be talked down. I cared, I contributed, I made calls, I knocked doors, I argued with and lost friends on social media. Did that count with any of our leadership? What are they doing for us now? Where are they leading us? Because if it is not to immediate resistance and a pathway to get back in control in two years, then what?

1. What is resistance?

Social media memes from Krassenstein, BTC and Lincoln Project?

I think the election just proved that people tuned out all the anti-Trump buzz.

Want to win elections? Go populist and go back to the roots of the DEM party...

Purge the neocon warmongers and the billionaires, take back blue collar America and the working poor who are frustrated.

Better use of time than "resistance"

What gets my eyes rolling so hard that they end up on the person next to me are these TikTok LARPers saying, "Ooh, yeah, we're the Rebel Alliance now!" It makes me scream, "Will you please watch another damned movie?!?"

2. Sure hope some are working on taking advantage of the recent healthcare spotlight. I doubt

it’s just Democrats fed up with our so-called healthcare system. Seems like a good theme for mid-terms.

3. Well, I read in the actual newspaper that congressional Democrats are confirming judges as fast as they can

And I also read in the actual newspaper (and TV) that Joe Biden is pardoning/granting clemency/forgiving over 1400 people besides his son and is still,at it.

It’s not a secret — actual work is getting done daily.

We need to be looking ahead into the next Congress and how we will
counter the onslaught that is ahead.

hibernation. Maybe we will see them in the Spring

We need leadership; we need guidance; and most of all we need a plan of
counterattack not resistance. All we have right now is a vacuum.

It's time for new leadership, but our old, outdated system for choosing leaders is apparently not ready to make that transition.

I don't know if it will matter. We couldn't get on the stick and prosecute Trump for insurrection after a lengthy congressional investigation dug up and presented irrefutable evidence. Seems like we're moving at a snail's pace now, and missing the boat, or train, or whatever means we have to preserve our democracy.

7. I am just hoping that the silence is because of secret operations to safeguard classified material, the military,
Tue Dec 17, 2024, 12:48 AM

The Constitution and citizenry.

And, as I have noted, I hope that the drones are cover for ground-penetrating-radar (funny coincidence, over Bedminster) looking for stolen classified material, tunnels, bunkers, Russian underground HQ, nuclear secrets and materials.

That's what *I* would do based on some knowledge of history and science.

Everything the magats have done follows the fascist playbook almost to the letter. Including the deportations at the outset. And then ridding the military, one at a time on some idiot excuse until it becomes routine, and loyalists are put in place. Just one reminder.

If I were in Joe's shoes, I'd be doing a damn lot and saying absolutely nothing about it.

It's not good. We have no leadership right now. He's already ceded the presidency to Trump. To say I'm disappointed is a big understatement.

. . .not because Du members are malicious. It's because nobody here knows.

I've been following the DU since before Trump's first term ---not obsessively at first. I didn't think there was anyway a petty criminal would be elected president and, well, I had too much going on in my life----people dying---that sort of thing. Now, no one can argue that he's a petty criminal. He made it. He is finally the best at something. He is an existential threat to humanity. I'm sure he's pleased.

I think most members here are on edge and take it out, unintentionally, on other members. We all have our own personal MAGAts. There is no amount of horse sense, or college-level reasoning can move a MAGAt to shake off cognitive dissonance and vote in a civically responsible manner. So, people come here. Then these same people who are so frustrated with MAGA interaction take out their frustrated anger on people who do listen and respond. It's classic displaced anger.

My hope is that Usonian's response is correct. I think why most people won't just embrace Usonian thought is because it seems almost like hoping and wishing for Santa Claus.

Don't be surprised when a significant segment of DU try to gaslight you into thinking that they know more than you. They just want to appear brave. It's all uncharted waters.
