Confidence in U.S. Courts Plummets to Rate Far Below Peer Nations

Public confidence in the American legal system has plunged over the past four years, a new Gallup poll found, putting it in the company of nations like Myanmar, Syria and Venezuela.

“These data on the U.S. courts are stunning,” said Tom Ginsburg, an authority on comparative and international law at the University of Chicago.

After the Supreme Court’s decision overturning Roe v. Wade and the several prosecutions of Donald J. Trump, Professor Ginsburg said, “there is a perception that the judiciary has become inexorably politicized.”

Between 2020 and 2024, confidence in the judicial system in the United States dropped 24 percentage points, to 35 percent from 59 percent.

to be destabilizing. How can I represent clients if legal precedents are no longer reliable? That we can “win” at trial and find a new standard upon appeal after a SCOTUS decision?

That committed many, many more crimes that are going unpunished and that the courts helped slow track or tried to give fake immunity for so he would never see a trial . . .

I wonder the fuck why no one has faith in courts. Laws are for the little people. That's justice in America and we all know it.

Leo is the one who groomed SC nominees to lie and to follow his will for the US to be a theocracy with only rich white people in leadership positions. McConnell worked closely with Leo, and Trump nominated the people Leo told him to nominate, including the right-wing extremists now populating the federal courts.

Trump will now get to appoint hundreds more judges to the federal bench. Few of them will be loyal to Constitutional law. Most of them will be religious extremists pushed by Leo.

use the judicial system as a toy for his entire freaking life. Why would anyone trust it? It's rigged for the wealthy and connected.

That the justice system has proven itself to be far far less than impartial.
The justice system has allowed itself to be corrupted
The Supreme Court for sure has flaunted it's own corruption openly.
***with enough money or political connection the laws are not applied to you at all or at the wrist slap level.

So where are the reasons to feel positive about the justice system?
Seems that they are not to be trusted or viewed positively atleast the way it is now

Poll is not a pro democratic push poll, but includes right wing disdain for trump being found guilty, as well as January 6th convictions and sentencing, plus more.
Similar to the 'direction of the country' polls. This poll is generally considered a reflection of the current president, but negative results should not redound solely onto the president, since displeasure with governors, congressmen, legislative issues, and even personal issues affect it. It has really become a meaningless poll.
Consider this poll under Biden is currently low, something like 25% think country headed in right direction. However, when Biden took office, this poll was at about 12% when trump left, so Biden has actually improved the direction of the country by doubling it!

Driving the news: Thirty-five percent of respondents said they had confidence in the U.S. judicial system and courts, per Gallup's poll. That's a drop from 42% last year.

By the numbers: Confidence in the courts has dropped for both those who approve and disapprove of U.S. leadership under President Biden.

2024 also marks the first time that confidence in the courts has been below 50% among both those who approve and those who disapprove of U.S. leadership.

Only 44% of those who approve of U.S. leadership under Biden expressed confidence in the judicial system and courts in 2024.

This year is the first on record that confidence in the judiciary among those who approve of U.S. leadership has dipped below 60%. Sentiment among this group remained steady between 2021 and 2023 before dropping this year.

Wonder if they have done a poll on the DOJ ? Bet the DOJ would be even lower. IMO

46 months and counting
34 days for the release of an un-redacted Smith report. Count down as suggested.
