You are probably wondering why I'm writing an OP with this subject line. I can imagine the initial reaction: like, "uh, well, duh, glad that you are figuring things out, nmmi. So what else is new?"
But actually this is wonderful news for me that I want to share.
The subject line is a quote from my sister!!!!!!!!!!! Yipee!!!!!
Background: Way back a couple decades ago my sister (my only sibling) was playing Sean Hannity and other fuckheads on whatever station on the car radio. Eventually, I asked her to switch to something else. Then there were some emails she distributed. Later on we got in an email argument about Obamacare or our healthcare system way back when. I asked that we not discuss politics anymore. That was like 20 years ago.
When we had talked about voting last, that was Bush v. Kerry (2004) and she said she was undecided. Meanwhile, way back when we mentioned politics, I'd been clear about how I always voted Democratic.
I've wondered if she's gotten even more radicalized in the years since with that stupid car radio. It's been nearly 20 years since I've had a clue about her politics. Until I opened my email today.
So the subject line, from her birthday email, shocked me. I thought maybe I read what I hoped was there, rather than what was actually there. So I read it again and again just to make sure. What an enormously pleasant surprise.
