Elon Musk Derails Spending Bill Just Before Deadline,

Trump Follows Chyron on CNN now, Musk blows up US Spending Bill, Dow Plunges

Not even pretending that trump is the real President. That was fast.

Edited to add that of course the harm caused by this chaos is not funny. It's just funny (gallows humor) that CNN is not sugarcoating what's happening here by saying explicitly that trump is following.

I guess buying Twitter was worth it.

Man, the Dow dropped over 1000 points today after that happened. S&P tanked too.

Just wait until they destroy the FDIC. I'm already trying to figure out how to get what little money I do have in a bank out safely.

Elon wants to kill the Dollar and have the US adopt cryptocurrency (and that is only so they can steal even more)

It just makes me glad that I'm pretty old, no kids. Maybe I'll be dead before I have to go begging for food on the street.

and mentally declining trump isn't even in office yet.

This is going to be hot mess come Jan. 20 with Musk bogarding power over trump, and poop but Ramaswamy trying to get a word in...they'll both disgard his behind soon enough.

Dumpster fire coming up.

They'll going to fu_k it up big time and it could get nasty as I've never heard of a co-dictatorship.

They weren't necessary MAGA, but they went with *rump because they've been living in a bubble of selfish misery since COVID and "all these successful" Tech Bros and the Media were backing him.
They thought those smart, successful people knew a better way of governing, cut through all the Red Tape and all that. Like somehow them being rich and successful proved they were smarter than the very Government that enabled those faux engineering geniuses to make their money.

*rump is intellectually lazy, so he'll be okay with Musk running around tearing things down as long as he thinks he benefits, not remembering what happened the last time the Government was shut down during his own term.

However, since it's already being called "Musk's Government Shutdown" in public from people in and out of the government who remember 2018/2019, he might find himself facing a backlash of Musk's doing.

Unless, of course, Musk is willing to give every single American worker affected by the shutdown $1k a week out of his own pocket, with, of course , *rump's "blessing". It won't be enough to protect the small businesses and contractors who will go out business or bankrupt, but hey, it won't cost the American Taxpayer as many Billions of dollars in both lost revenue and economic distress as it would have if he didn't pay people to sit at home while he and his friend play "let's see how far we can tear down Democracy".

But with both record profits & margins in several industrial segments, that inflation you aptly describe isn't affecting shareholders until this overreaction took place.

I haven't watched any news today. What did Powell say? (you sure it wasn't because the government will shut down tomorrow?)

Will that mean I don't get my essential to my life SS payment ? After that, it is only a matter of time before me and my 83 year old mom are homeless begging on the street for food. Thoughts like this lead to ....... I don't want to say it here, but I'm definitely thinking it.

The market wanted more rate cuts today and more predicted for 2025.

JPow came up with a tiny 25bp cut today and poured cold water on the prospect of cuts in 2025.

https://finance.yahoo.com/news/live/stock-market-today-dow-sp-500-nasdaq-clobbered-as-fed-powell-signal-fewer-rate-cuts-in-2025-210323475.html

Stock market today: Dow, S&P 500, Nasdaq clobbered as Fed, Powell signal fewer rate cuts in 2025

Ten Fed officials estimated two interest rate cuts next year, fewer than four seen in September, as officials marked up their projections for core inflation and economic growth next year, while lowering their forecast for the unemployment rate in 2025.

"The slower pace of cuts for next year really reflects both the higher inflation readings we had this year and the expectation inflation will be higher," Fed Chair Jerome Powell said. He added later that as long as the economy and labor market remain "solid," "we can be cautious as we consider further cuts."

First, they have to tear everything down completely and then they can rebuild it on their conservative/libertarian ideal that NEVER works... but that only republicans think that it can't fail... only that people fail the ideology. (SMDH). Imagine what England has gone through since the time of Thatcher, only crunched into a smaller time period. THAT'S what we're in for.

They should all be on tv, podcasts, social media, and street corners telling people what they are about to lose, telling voters they've been lied to, and asking "Who is actually running the country?" An effective resistance tactic would be to drive a wedge between musk and drumpf by claiming musk is running the country.

Musk's not even eligible to RUN for president, let alone BE president. Since that's the case, you can't impeach him, either... they've boxed things into this cute little corner. Either Trump takes the blame for everything and we can impeach trump, or we have an unconstitutional president (which, for either, is the case Afaic) that can't be touched. I think that's called a dictator, by default.

The best way for there to be a split between Trump and Leon is for the media to give Leon lots of attention, even better if they act like he's really the president. Trump hates people in his orbit getting more attention than he does. Maybe he'll get mad enough that Leon will trip down some stairs and get buried in a weedy patch of some golf course. Stranger things have happened.
