its funny, that year I could not get Giant's season tickets, so I went to Oakland and got A's season tickets. The very next year I made sure I had Giants season tickets at Candlestick park. I think I always preferred the Oakland Colosseum especially for football games (Oakland Raiders, Oakland Invaders) but often went to see the 49ers and the San Francisco Giants play at Candlestick and later Pac Bell Park (Oracle Park) Seeing players like Ricky Henderson or even Barry Bonds was fun! I even got to see, though retired Willie Mays and other famous Giants and Athletics! Going to professional sports games was lots of fun, and something I enjoyed early as a kid...

(19,969 posts)My Dad, brother, and I all had season tickets. Right above the As dugout. My brother and I took the day off from work to go to the game because we knew he was going to break the record that day. Great memory among a lot of great memories at that stadium with my Dad, my brother, my wife, and then my son. Took him to a playoff game against the White Sox at two months old!

(43,016 posts)it was my first and last ALL STAR GAME and Ricky was playing,... I remember the Bash Brothers, and some great pitching from A's pitchers.... Going back across the bay to watch the Giants play ball, I remember being some what disappointed because the salesman who got me the Season tickets for the Athletics, got me an A's Starter jacket for free, while the Giants Salesman that season told me, if I wanted to get a Starter jacket, I would have to pay for it myself. I did buy one, after I passed on my A's jacket to a friend and I never got it back, oh well.

Watched him play here in San Diego for a couple years. Very amusing.
RIP Rickey.

(30,049 posts)my greatest sports moment was Kirk Gibson's homer in the bottom of the 9th of the 1st game of the World Series. I watched it on television and still cheered as if I was at the game.
I don't even watch or follow sports anymore but I will never forget that home run.
