Democrats need to let the GOP fuck up Americans lives next year. We can't save them from their own ramifications.

Democrats need to let the GOP fuck up Americans lives next year.
We can't save them from their own ramifications.
The American People will not learn that way.
We cannot be Superman and swoop to the rescue every time, preventing the worst possible outcomes.
Give the people what they voted for: chaos, inflation, and hate.
Then they might start to vote FOR their interests, instead of against them.

This was a reply that started an interesting discussion.
FYI: This is not a call for Democrats to vote with the GOP and pass their bills.
We should vote against but we also need to stop negotiating with House and senate Republicans who NEVER keep their word on a deal.
Fuck 'em and let them sink Americans and realize we were straight with them all along.
My signature line says it all: "Orcutt's 1st Law: Before things get better, they must get much worse." - from the novel THE FOOLS IN TOWN ARE ON OUR SIDE by Ross Thomas

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2024/11/18/2287041/-Trump-voters-f-cked-around-now-they-re-about-to-find-out?pm_campaign=front_page&pm_source=from_markos_desk&pm_medium=web

Rural America has been the bedrock of MAGA support. This year, 64% of rural voters went for Trump, and just 32% for Harris. And the nonprofit news outlet Investigate Midwest finds that Trump won over 77% of the popular vote, on average, in the nation’s most farming-dependent counties. So you know the leopards are hungrily circling that crowd.
...
One of the election’s most bizarre developments was that many Muslim Americans abandoned the Democratic ticket for both Trump and Green Party candidate Jill Stein, largely due to the Biden administration’s support for Israel in its war against Hamas. In fact, Arab-majority Dearborn, Michigan, went from a 69% Biden majority in 2020 to giving Vice President Kamala Harris just 36% of its vote this November. Trump got 42%, and Stein got 18%. Boy, did they send a message for peace! .
...
No modern-era president did more for organized labor than Joe Biden. Among other things, he was the first president to walk a picket line, bailed out the pension for 600,000 Teamsters at a taxpayer’s cost of $36 billion, helped radicalize billionaire Elon Musk by excluding him from an electrical-vehicle summit at the apparent behest of the United Auto Workers union, increased funding for the National Labor Relations Board, and stocked that board with labor advocates.

In return, the Teamsters refused to endorse a presidential candidate, and the union’s president, Sean O’Brien, spoke at the Republican National Convention, and 45% of labor households voted for Trump, compared with 40% in 2020, according to exit polls.

Republicans wreck everything; people "wise up" and vote Dems into office; Dems start fixing things; people get semi-comfortable; people get stupid; Republicans use fear and wild promises to get back in; cycle starts again.

One day the cycle will break, one way or the other. Will I live long enough to see it? My father laughed in my face with Reagan beat Carter, then spent four years bellowing like a bloodhound about how the Jellybean Naptime Cowboy and the GOP were ruining the country, then promptly voted straight Republican ticket again. THAT cycle continued until he assumed room temperature.

EXACTLY my thoughts!

I’m one of the Americans who faithfully voted and DIDN’T vote for the “dynamic death duo” Musk/Trump.

Is there some corner of America where I can spend the next 4 years (which could be my last years on earth since I’m nearly 71) in relative financial and physical safety?

I hate insensitive people/commenters who talk very subjectively with zero compassion for their fellow Americans using phrases like “Americans deserve what they get. They need to suffer and learn.” It tells me these commenters are either not Americans at all, or are so financially well positioned that they can weather the next four years and keep motoring on. Or they’re in denial.

Things are already looking scary in farm country with cases which appear to be increasing. And you know that if we get a bird flu pandemic, Trump and his cronies will be at least as incompetent as they were during Covid. I just can't wait for Trump's whiny press conferences, where he complains about his ratings and the "fake news" while half the country is dying. Can you?

So while it's easy to feel schadenfreude for the idiots in farm country, Dearborn, the Teamsters, etc. who voted for Trump, his malignant regime is likely to cause harm to everyone.

The problem is not what Democrats are doing, or failing to do. It is what Democrats are failing to communicate.

Smugly sitting back and watching the disaster happen won't help win elections in 2026 & 2028, assuming our country even has elections anymore. Democrats need to fight and be seen fighting for the common man and woman in America.

If Democrats cannot improve the way they communicate, their actions will matter little.

A threat of losing power - as in, getting voted out. It may not work, but we can hope voters will not forget for the next election. There's a reason they pretend they AREN'T for getting rid of Social Security. If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears. By the way it has worked. They cave whenever there's a debt ceiling negotiation. They passed the Veteran's Health bill 86-11 after John Stewart spoke to Congress. Just two days ago the Senate passed the extension of Social Security benefits 76-20 so it does happen. There's probably more if my memory didn't suck.

Democrats can and most likely will vote against all of the stuff the Republicans will pull, but they are going to be outnumbered and they will mostly lose to the lockstep Republicans. Somehow, many people seem to not believe this.

There is no "both sides cavalry" coming to rescue us from Trump if he pushes too far. It will be up to the Republicans in the House and Senate to help stop him, but they are being threatened themselves and they are sniveling cowards.

All we really can do is to make sure that the American people know who is responsible for the upcoming mess that Trump will create.

We are out of words. Americans will need to now learn from experience.
