A man who struck multiple people after driving into a Texas mall on Saturday was shot and killed by police, authorities said.
The man plowed into the front of a JC Penney store at the Killeen Mall in Killen, shattering the glass doors and continuing to drive his black pickup about 100 yards while striking multiple people and actively running people over, Texas Department of Public Safety Sgt. Bryan Washko said during a news conference Saturday night.
He was later identified on Sunday as John Darrel Schultz, 53, of Kempner, TX. Four people were transported to local hospitals with injuries ranging from severe to minor, Washko said. He added that another person hurt in the incident walked into a hospital with minor injuries. https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/man-shot-dead-police-driving-texas-mall-striking-multiple-people-rcna185136

Then, crossed the access road, into the mall parking lot and into the mall.
Don't think he's a copycat because he was already being pursued for erratic driving. I saw home video of him driving off the embankment.

I remember Kileen had a mass shooting at a Luby's Cafeteria in the early 90's...23 people were killed.
Also in 2009 at the Army base (Fort Hood) near Kileen had a shooter kill 13.
I don't know about the vibe there.....

The Luby's shooting, also known as the Luby's massacre, was a mass shooting that took place on October 16, 1991, at a Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas. The perpetrator, George Hennard, drove his pickup truck through the front window of the restaurant before opening fire, killing 23 people and wounding 27 others. Hennard had a brief shootout with police in which he was seriously wounded but refused their orders to surrender and eventually killed himself.
The shooting was the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, until it was surpassed in 2007 by the Virginia Tech shooting.
