Archbishop of New York Cardinal Timothy Dolan said in a Fox News interview that thrice married, twice divorce, adjudicated rapist and serial liar Donald Trump takes his Christian faith seriously.
Ive had talks with him before in the past where hes pretty blunt about, you know, he cant say that he was raised as a, as a very zealous Christian, but he takes his Christian faith seriously, Dolan told host Maria Bartiromo on Fox News Sunday Morning Futures in a clip highlighted by The Hill.
Dolan also claimed divine intervention saved Trump from assassination this summer.
I think of Ronald Reagan and John Paul II, Dolan said. Both survived assassination attempts very close to one another, and when the two of them met for the first time, Ronald Reagan said to Pope Saint John Paul II, Mother Teresa told me that she thinks the Lord spared me, because the Lord has somethin special in mind for me.

(121,505 posts)why has he spent most of his life violating the Ten Commandments, committing the Seven Deadly Sins (pride, anger, gluttony, sloth, lust, envy and greed), and completely ignoring that part in Matthew 25 where Jesus directs us to welcome the stranger, feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked, visit the prisoner, all that woke stuff? Jesus also says you'll go to Hell if you don't do those things. But at least Trump and Cardinal Dolan can keep each other company there.

(17,181 posts)Boy goes to confession and tells the priest he has been with a girl of loose morals.
"That's a grievous sin," the priest says. "Tell me: Was it Mary O'Hara?"
"No, Father."
"Was it Kate Dannaher?"
"No, Father."
"Was it Kathleen McGonigle?"
"No, Father. I don't want to say who it was."
Later, as the boy leaves the church, he sees a friend, who asks him, "How'd it go?"
He answers, "Well, I got ten Hail Marys, five Our Fathers... and three great leads."

Gee. I don't really see Trump's Christian Faith.
It will be interesting to learn what the special thing the good Lord has planned for him is.

(11,600 posts)"The Center for Constitutional Rights (CCR) and the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP) strongly condemn Pope Benedicts appointment of Archbishop Timothy Dolan to Cardinal of the Archdiocese of New York. Dolans mishandling of child sexual abuse cases is well-documented, from failing to report direct admissions by offending priests to actively lobbying against reforming statutes of limitations on child sexual abuse cases in Wisconsin. The archbishops track record is consistent with the Catholic Churchs record of covering up child sex abuse allegations."

(19,906 posts)Theres one key point in taking ones Christian faith very seriously: Contrition. The Sick Fuck never admits fault, is literally on record saying he has never asked God for forgiveness. He thinks of himself before any others, he possesses no empathy. And upon THAT foundation is a man who has spent his lifetime engaged in all seven deadly sins. This is a man that the good Cardinal would have us believe takes his Christianity very seriously? You need to turn in your robe fool.

If Nolan travels this path, he will be spending much time in silence but when he speaks his message will be powerful.

If the Catholic church had any integrity, this guy would have been kicked out long ago. Of course we already knew they had no integrity over their handling of the pedophile priests.

(6,104 posts)But then, I have to wonder how many Catholic priests take theirs seriously. Or for how many of them it's just a scam. And the same can be said for conservative, Evangelical pastors.
Trump has openly denied the core principle of a Christian conversion experience, which is the acknowledgement of his own sin and the need for God's forgiveness. He has, on multiple occasions, in front of prominent religious leaders, on camera, stated that he has done nothing that requires God's forgiveness. In virtually every branch of Christianity, that's an open denial of the Doctrine of Salvation, and that testimony is Trump telling the world he is not Christian.
Trump has defined his own belief in God, contrary to any Christian revelation spoke n by Jesus Christ, who defined Christianity for the world. Submission to God is a key component of the Christian faith, and that is something Trump cannot and will not do. And any Catholic priest who knows his doctrine and is being faithful to the Church and to Christ would not be able to acknowledge this about Trump and remain credible.
