This was a "gotcha" appointment. Garland wouldn't have been given a moment's consideration if it weren't for Turtle's SCOTUS games.
AG is just too damn crucial for this, particularly in these times.

Funny how the man who actually did his job is taking the heat for the republican and Trump-appointed judges and justices who delayed the trials (one actually IN COURT when we voted) until the election.

(17,379 posts)in his new book "War." Woodward writes that Biden regretted picking Garland and that it was really Biden's inner circle, people very close to him, who pressured him to select Garland. Although Woodward never states outright that Garland's selection was recompense for the failed SCOTUS nomination plan.

(16,983 posts)Repug. + Dem Pres. since J Edgar Hoover have all appointed ReThug Directors of the FBI. Why Dems do not appoint Dems - is another lesson in Dems cutting their own throats. Then they can appear bipartisan, willing to compromise, and go along to get along type folk.
Bull shit on this. Dems shouldn't bend, yield, or extend the jesture of compromise to an opponent who shafts you at each and every turn.
Dems worry about your agendas first and foremost, and often times exclusively.
No wonder we appear so weak, ineffectual, and incapable of getting the job of politics done. We come across as whimps.
