The Hill: Toyota to donate $1 million to Trump inauguration

The Hill - Toyota to donate $1 million to Trump inauguration

by Tara Suter - 12/24/24 2:24 PM ET

President-elect Trump’s inauguration is getting $1 million from Toyota Motor North America.

The spokesperson for Toyota confirmed the inauguration donation to The Hill on Tuesday.

Toyota joins Ford and a number of other companies in pledging significant donations to Trump’s inaugural fund. Ford is reportedly donating $1 million.

Meta and Amazon both handed over seven-figure donations of their own to the president-elect’s inaugural fund last week. Open AI CEO Sam Altman has also said he would give $1 million out of his personal wealth.

A report from S&P Global released in late November found U.S. and European carmakers could lose a maximum of 17 percent of their combined annual core profits in the case of steep tariffs on Europe, Canada and Mexico.

If presidential policy is 100 percent transactional, if everything is strictly pay-for-play and pay-for-access then any corporation is not only foolish to not ante up and reserve their place at the table, they're falling behind their competitors...

Nevermind the fact that we all know Donnie isn't above passing petty bits of "revenge legislation" just to punish companies that displease him...

The real problem is so much of Donnie's grifting has been 100% normalized that nobody in the media even knows what "corruption" is anymore. And those who do know won't say lest Donnie and Elmer threaten to shut them down or sue them to bankruptcy...

NBC and ABC have already set a really ugly precedent for obediently falling in line... It's all downhill from here.
