Had a 12 hour shift scheduled for today. Woke up with just the smallest tickle in my chest. Weve been in outbreak so I decided to test.
This is my first time! My pulse is slightly elevated and Im running a temp of 100.6. Oxygen is holding beautinfully. Slight headache I took Tylenol for. Ive had some mild/moderate muscle aches. Not much cough at all.
All in all, so far so good.
Fellow test geeks, look how the viral load exploded in just a few hours! Wow!
Stay safe out there DU!

(1,648 posts)on Sunday but first felt a little tickle in my throat Friday morning. Mostly a sore throat, cough and headache. The wife made go to urgent care. After a 2 1/2 wait in the parking lot, doctor gave me a prescription of Paxlovid. It must have worked as I feel 100% today.
I did miss Christmas Eve dinner with the kids and grandkids but safety first. Get well

(26,496 posts)I got Covid for Christmas several years ago. Not my idea of a fun gift, but at least I didn't give it to anyone in my family.

Last year I had COVID for Christmas. Tested positive on the 25th. No fun.
Hope it's mild and you get better soon!

(35,266 posts)i landed in the hospital for five days this past spring -- i couldn't breathe!
they ran all the tests and it was the damn flu!
i asked how this could be the flu; i've never had the flu before that made me not able to breathe.
the doc looked at me and said: "people die from the flu."
that hit me; i thought "oh yeah, i guess they do"
so pick something non lethal -- maybe a sinus infection?

(29,233 posts)It looks like that was before my viral load really exploded over the next few hours. In the next test done at 1500, the test line is WAY darker than the control. I did two other tests in addition to the ones you see here. I decided to get cheeky with it (if you will pardon the pun) and see if a buccal swab would register positive. It does not. Naropharyngeal swabs consistently peg the test lines in a deep crimson now.

I assume it works in a similar fashion for Covid tests.

(34,326 posts)Felt a little run down for a couple days. Twice before that I had unknown viruses that wiped me out and put me in kidney failure.
Hope they come up with a vaccine for Bird Flue.

(379 posts)2 years ago while I was in bed with a broken ankle. Yippee! Seriously, it gave me the same kind of headache that I got when I had the flu one time, a KILLER one. More like the migraines that I got when I was younger than a headache. If I hadnt had the meds for the broken ankle I dont know what I would have done except take 4 Tylenol l8ke I had to do for the migraines.
I hope you feel better sooner than later!

(483 posts)The weird thing is I got it first & it was pretty mild for me and I literally was better in one day. My husband now has it, and hes very sick, so much so that Im going soon to pick up a prescription for Paxlovid.

You have done great not getting it up until now! Rest up & take care!

(29,233 posts)guessing that tanked my immune system along with stress over these last couple weeks. Hence, covid. I had to fly out to Seattle last week because my duaghter was having surgery, and Ive had some other stresses, work has been awful. Nursing is always stressful, but weve had some very serious challenges this season, theres a fucking carnival barker coming into HHS and I feel like people in upper level management and above have just disengaged in face of the coming storm.
