This is an undated post of the two schmucks.
US president-elect Donald Trumpf says he told Canadian hockey legend Wayne Gretzky during a Christmas Day visit that he should run for prime minister of Canada.
I just left Wayne Gretzky, The Great One as he is known in ice-hockey circles, Trump posted on his Truth Social platform Wednesday afternoon.
I said, Wayne, why dont you run for prime minister of Canada, soon to be known as the governor of Canada you would win easily, you wouldnt even have to campaign.
He had no interest, Trump wrote.

(59,727 posts)Hi Corio.
But the second time I am not so sure about.
Especially since Trump is ramping up very ugly and dangerous rhetoric.
Americans elected this moron knowing exactly what he is.
There are four long years ahead of us.
I don't think we can count on continued good will at the end of those four years.

(1,872 posts)You raise great points.
But Canadians and our NATO partners know that Trumpf eked by in 2024 because the anti-war Democrats stayed home (like in 1968).
Many of the Western countries have been dealing with RW agit-prop and Russian espionage for years. The UK suffered Brexit because of it and the RW are gaining in Germany.
But the "Thousand Year Reich" lasted thirteen miserable, devastating years. The world and America must endure four horrific years of Trumpf/Putin/Musk and the incalculable damage they will do. On the geo-political stage, NATO and the EU will step up, while China will be a wildcard.
I don't foresee the European masses hating all Americans carte blanche-- just the MAGAts now and in four years.
Let's see what's going to happen.

(59,727 posts)It is good to know that the other democracies understand out plight, that Russia has been interfering in our elections
and the majority of Americans are not to blame. Yes of course Europe has been the victim of the same Putin psy-ops
programs as the US.
But we shall see if that understanding and good will extend to invasions, damage to economies, pandemics, etc.
Patience can wear thin. Especially if the US MAGAs start to cross borders and infiltrate their populace and government.
I was in Canada this summer and I understand enough French to pick up some anti-American sentiment.
Yes let's see how this unfolds. We are only in the beginning of the movie.
Yes holidays are going well. Hope the same for you.

(47,607 posts)CEO of Tilray, Canadian cannabis and craft beer company, said that he believed Trump would legalize weed in the US. Almost sounds like a grifting/swap in the works. If that went through, cannabis generation would be co-opted by it. Trump would be placating them. Trump is playing Canada.

A huge personal disappointment.
