https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/24-things-donald-trump-is-promising-to-doThe list is long, ranging from we will begin the largest deportation operation in American history. to I will secure our elections.
1. 'Trump is pledging to deploy a massive dragnet to arrest and deport millions of undocumented migrants. He has told crowds, and Time magazine in April, that he would use local law enforcement to do this as well as, potentially, the National Guard and active duty military. He has not offered more specifics about how any of those mechanisms would work. He has indicated in his speeches that he would first target criminals, mentioning violent crimes like murder and rape.
24. This promise echoes the official Republican party platform of securing elections by calling for same-day voting, paper ballots, proof of citizenship and voter identification. At the same time, Republican leaders have urged voters to use all available options for casting their ballots, like absentee or mail-in voting. Trump has falsely claimed that voting by mail or using drop boxes is less secure and, thus, more open to mass voter fraud. (Its not.)'
My opinion:: He may or he may not attempt to do these things and more, but I think what he is going to do more than anything else is run the biggest grift in American history. Everything will be for sale, Everything. I'm curious what you folks think.

(19,906 posts)Some will prove impractical, i.e. drill baby drill. We already produce more than at any other time in our history. Producing more would have disastrous effects on not only our economy, but the global economy as well. Big oil wont like that. Other plans, like the mass deportations, are logistical nightmares, not to mention the legal hurdles that would ensue. And again, should he succeed in fulfilling that promise, the resulting loss of workforce would cripple our economy.
So, my thinking is hell give lip service to all of his campaign pipe dreams that were so effective in riling up the MAGAt cult, but his real focus will be on figuring out how to gut the Treasury for himself and his oligarch donors and friends.

(2,464 posts)Overall, a ridiculous list. They range from addressing non-existent issues, to pledging to do impossible things, to things he has no clue what he is talking about & things he's flat out lying about.
I'll say he's likely to "keep" one of these "promises": 3. We will drill, baby, drill. That's because he doesn't need to do anything to achieve it - The US is already producing more crude oil than any country, ever. So it's not really a promise to do anything but keep the status quo.
Anything beyond that? There are actually a few good things on the list he has no chance of achieving such as 4. We will end inflation and make America affordable again.. And other things we all better hope he doesn't achieve like: 1. On Day 1, we will begin the largest deportation operation in American history. and 19. I will defund any school that has a vaccine or mask mandate.
