I haven't seen an alternative view of the reason. Here's another reason, albeit obtuse.

From what I read and understand:
Luigi entered NYC in November 2 days before United Healthcare published their meeting agenda and location.
CEO did not have a security team with him despite having received several threats.
Shooter did not seem to be nervous or anxious before or after the act.
Both CEO and Shooter were valedictorians (which has nothing to do with this posting LOL)
CEO was under investigation by DOJ for fraud and/or illegal business activity.
Shooter seemed to know the walking route and timing of CEO so that he could lie in wait
Shooter was seen on Cell phone minutes before the shooting.

I wonder if this was a CEO arranged 'suicide by murder'.

The way they paraded him in with Mayor Adams is a complete farce and was way over the top, for someone charged with murder.
