https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/12/26/trump-voters-federal-benefits-food/
After reading this article, a few things came to my mind:
1) Fuck low-income people who voted for Trump expecting him to protect Obamacare, Social Security, Medicare, etc. They voted for him because they love the racism and want him to hurt the people they hate. Fuck them with a spiked bat. I hope they suffer tremendously.
2) Fuck people who can't do basic research and understand Dems are the ones who fought for these programs over the decades while Republicans have been doing everything they can to take these programs away. Educate yourselves before you vote for the leopards to eat your faces, assholes.
3) Fuck the MSM and other people who normalized/sanewashed the maniac and held Kamala Harris to a completely different standard during the campaign. Kamala was talking policy while the maniac talked about people eating dogs and cats.
4) Fuck people like Bill Maher who want liberals to be nice to conservatives. Bill Maher is rich, white, and male. He won't be impacted by Trump's policies and he knows it. In fact, he'll benefit. Fuck that piece of shit.
The game has changed since November 2024 and I'm all out of fucks to give.

From the article - Bold mine:
But as Kathy Davis sat in the smokers patio at the Riverside Apartments, she said she is as confident as ever that Trumps presidency will benefit her.
Davis, a retired artist, subsists on a monthly $1,300 Social Security payment and $75 in food stamps. She rents her studio apartment for $385 per month. Asked whether she worries that Trumps agenda could hurt the poor, Davis said the incoming president is too smart for that.
You cant wipe out half of the population of New Castle, Davis said. We are old and tired and just want to be taken care of, and Trump has too much common sense, so I dont think he is going to do anything to hurt us.

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/8/18173678/trump-shutdown-voter-florida
On Monday, the New York Timess Patricia Mazzei published a dispatch from Marianna, Florida a small, politically conservative town that depends on jobs from a federal prison and thus has been deeply hurt by the government shutdown. In the piece, Marianna residents grapple with the fact that President Donald Trump, who most residents support, is playing a role in the pain created by lost wages.
Most Marianna residents support Trumps border wall, his key demand in the shutdown fight, and dont blame him for the fight. But Crystal Minton, a secretary at the prison who is also a single mother caring for disabled parents, had a somewhat different reaction one that reveals an essential truth about the core Trumps political appeal.
I voted for him, and hes the one whos doing this, Minton told Mazzei. I thought he was going to do good things.
Hes not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.

Bill Maher Donates $2 Million To 2 Democratic Super PACs
https://dailycaller.com/2018/09/21/bill-maher-big-money-dems/
Comedian Bill Maher, who frequently rants against Republicans on his nightly television show, donated $2 million to Democratic PACs in August. As Politico reports, campaign finance documents show that the groups assist Democrats to get elected to the House and Senate.
The Real Time with Bill Maher host gave $1 million a piece to the House Majority PAC and the Senate Majority PAC.
Maher is accustomed to donating to liberal causes and candidates but hasnt crossed the million-dollar threshold since the 2012 election when he supported a super PAC that was promoting the reelection of then-President Barack Obama.

(10,756 posts)Yes, people were too caught up in bullshit (much of it sown by Trump) about what Kamala would do or wouldn't do. And yes, it's a fricking disaster that people were warned about what he might do (including Project 2025, which he lied about having any connection to) and still voted for him. They will get hurt and hard. And it's their own fault.
But the continual blame-tossing at the media is really off the mark. The real media and real journalists reported hard and often about what he would do. Many people didn't take the time to read. The media also printed a lot of opinion pieces before the election. Don't confuse opinion pieces with news reporting. They aren't the same.
As for Maher, he is nothing more than a pundit. He doesn't deserve any special boost for his platform. In fact, he doesn't deserve anything. He just hosts a TV show. BFD.

(16 posts)Politics can be frustrating, but hating people or wanting them to suffer over their vote doesnt solve anything. One of the best things about this country is the freedom to think and vote differently. Wishing harm on others only tears that down. However, we have to fight as much as we can with the ongoing shift to give more and more to a few at the top. This WILL make us look like some third world nations.

We fix it, they get power again, and trash America again. Red states still depend on blue state money to stay afloat, so my take is this: Time to let Republicans take responsibility for their own decisions, and stop baling them out. Stop sending money to red states - they have had more than enough time to figure out how to get more income (IOW, they keep cutting taxes for big business and the rich, then wonder why they have a deficit).
Make it loud and clear - you vote GOP, debt and grift is what you get. This is the result of voting Republican over and over, so, fix the mess caused by your vote, or vote for the party that has been, for decades, trying to save your dumb asses..

Same as above.
These are people who, justifiably, should "suffer" in that we should at least recognize how complicit they are and not pay them any attention other than to point out their gullibility or outright collusion.
This needs to be a persistent effort and it should happen before the stakes are so high. And it should happen in all the cases we can manage. Maybe there should be a Wikipedia-like site used as a clearing house to identify all the propaganda and canards and distribute the logical and rhetorical tools for countering it without burning too much collective attention.
