I want Trump voters to SUFFER. Does that make me an asshole? Well...I don't give a fuck anymore.

After backing Trump, low-income voters hope he doesn’t slash their benefits

https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/12/26/trump-voters-federal-benefits-food/

After reading this article, a few things came to my mind:

1) Fuck low-income people who voted for Trump expecting him to protect Obamacare, Social Security, Medicare, etc. They voted for him because they love the racism and want him to hurt the people they hate. Fuck them with a spiked bat. I hope they suffer tremendously.

2) Fuck people who can't do basic research and understand Dems are the ones who fought for these programs over the decades while Republicans have been doing everything they can to take these programs away. Educate yourselves before you vote for the leopards to eat your faces, assholes.

3) Fuck the MSM and other people who normalized/sanewashed the maniac and held Kamala Harris to a completely different standard during the campaign. Kamala was talking policy while the maniac talked about people eating dogs and cats.

4) Fuck people like Bill Maher who want liberals to be nice to conservatives. Bill Maher is rich, white, and male. He won't be impacted by Trump's policies and he knows it. In fact, he'll benefit. Fuck that piece of shit.

The game has changed since November 2024 and I'm all out of fucks to give.

4 In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God.
5 His ways are always prosperous; your laws are rejected by him; he sneers at all his enemies.

From the article - Bold mine:

But as Kathy Davis sat in the “smokers patio” at the Riverside Apartments, she said she is as confident as ever that Trump’s presidency will benefit her.

Davis, a retired artist, subsists on a monthly $1,300 Social Security payment and $75 in food stamps. She rents her studio apartment for $385 per month. Asked whether she worries that Trump’s agenda could hurt the poor, Davis said the incoming president is “too smart for that.”

“You can’t wipe out half of the population” of New Castle, Davis said. “We are old and tired and just want to be taken care of, and Trump has too much common sense, so I don’t think he is going to do anything to hurt us.”

It isn't like there is some magical protective shield or national "GO-FUND-ME" for those who do not deserve the harm that will come and who fought strongly AGAINST R's, MAGA, and Trump.

I do share your anger. But, while I have compassion for those who are not WILLFULLY ignorant, I admit freely to being contemptuous of those who do not value education and thus do not try to live their lives learning something new throughout their lives. The latter doesn't have to cost $$$. It just takes curiosity and a desire not to allow their own ignorance to lead them to be cruelly manipulated.

“He’s not hurting the people he needs to be”: a Trump voter says the quiet part out loud

https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2019/1/8/18173678/trump-shutdown-voter-florida

On Monday, the New York Times’s Patricia Mazzei published a dispatch from Marianna, Florida — a small, politically conservative town that depends on jobs from a federal prison and thus has been deeply hurt by the government shutdown. In the piece, Marianna residents grapple with the fact that President Donald Trump, who most residents support, is playing a role in the pain created by lost wages.

Most Marianna residents support Trump’s border wall, his key demand in the shutdown fight, and don’t blame him for the fight. But Crystal Minton, a secretary at the prison who is also a single mother caring for disabled parents, had a somewhat different reaction — one that reveals an essential truth about the core Trump’s political appeal.

“I voted for him, and he’s the one who’s doing this,” Minton told Mazzei. “I thought he was going to do good things.

He’s not hurting the people he needs to be hurting.”

Bill Maher Donates $2 Million To 2 Democratic Super PACs
https://dailycaller.com/2018/09/21/bill-maher-big-money-dems/

Comedian Bill Maher, who frequently rants against Republicans on his nightly television show, donated $2 million to Democratic PACs in August. As Politico reports, campaign finance documents show that the groups assist Democrats to get elected to the House and Senate.

The “Real Time with Bill Maher” host gave $1 million a piece to the House Majority PAC and the Senate Majority PAC.

Maher is accustomed to donating to liberal causes and candidates but hasn’t crossed the million-dollar threshold since the 2012 election when he supported a super PAC that was promoting the reelection of then-President Barack Obama.

Yes, people were too caught up in bullshit (much of it sown by Trump) about what Kamala would do or wouldn't do. And yes, it's a fricking disaster that people were warned about what he might do (including Project 2025, which he lied about having any connection to) and still voted for him. They will get hurt and hard. And it's their own fault.

But the continual blame-tossing at the media is really off the mark. The real media and real journalists reported hard and often about what he would do. Many people didn't take the time to read. The media also printed a lot of opinion pieces before the election. Don't confuse opinion pieces with news reporting. They aren't the same.

As for Maher, he is nothing more than a pundit. He doesn't deserve any special boost for his platform. In fact, he doesn't deserve anything. He just hosts a TV show. BFD.

Politics can be frustrating, but hating people or wanting them to suffer over their vote doesn’t solve anything. One of the best things about this country is the freedom to think and vote differently. Wishing harm on others only tears that down. We’re all more than our political choices, and understanding each other goes a lot further than hate. Just my two cents.

And why would anyone think this, based on his past performance?

Got to ask . . . when it is the job of government to 'hurt people', and how will this 'hurting' be aimed at one group of voters but not another?

Someone - lots of someones - drank the FlavorAid!

At least Dems are smart enough to know things will get nasty, Repugs will not.
Much gnashing of Repug teeth coming up when Trump winds up fully on the business of 'hurting' people.

But it is simplistic ZERO SUM thinking by Repugs - take away from one group (Dems) so that there is more for us (Repugs)

Is the world some live in that simple and deluded?

Will there be fuel pumps at the gas station marked 'For Repugs' and another for Dems, with different prices?
Ditto for shops?

The world is watching and shaking its head.

I will treat their lamentations the same way they treat those of the undocumented, unrepresented, underserved, undefended. I'm going to bask in it, and take dark joy in their misery; and after all of that my heart will only be 1/10 of the way healed from the hurt in my soul for everybody else.

Trumpers proudly vote against their interests then only after the celebration hangover do they consider the consequences...

"Trump isn't serious about eliminating workplace safety protections and all worker's rights, is he?"

"Trump isn't really serious about eliminating Social Security and Medicare, is he?"

"Trump isn't really serious about deporting 15 million people, is he?"

"Trump isn't really serious about those heavy tariffs that will kill my livelihood, is he?"

And the list goes on...

The bottom line is white folks need the social safety net just like the rest of us -- But Republicans would much rather blow it all up before sharing those hard-won benefits with people of color...

However we will al suffer. If Social Security, Medicare and Medicade are severly cut or eliminated and we enter a recession, it is likely to become a true depression. The reason is that in a recession the economy is lifted a bit by the spending of those on SS. Medicare and Medicade insert more money into the economy.

Add to this, mass deportations of skilled and unskilled workers causing inflation on top of a depressed economy - well, this is a recipe for disaster.

Be careful what you wish for you might get it.

For each of those examples, there are also people who voted for Harris who will also be hurt.

You are not alone in being frustrated that so many voted against their own interest. Some because multiple news sources they trusted have not been honest for decades. Some because people they trusted, possibly their religious leader, told them Trump would do good things whereas Biden, Harris etc al are evil.

However, we have to fight as much as we can with the ongoing shift to give more and more to a few at the top. This WILL make us look like some third world nations.

Hoping the Lady Karma will bite the collective Illiterati and make them cry because of the next Administration's arrogance in dismantling support for everybody?
Sure!

Watching Trump voters cry in their beer because their vote didn't 'earn' them anything, instead made their existence more difficult?
Sure!

Expecting the worst and taking care of your own business?
Sure!

Growing a thick skin and facing the cold Trump wind?
Sure!

Is America in danger of losing its international reputation as a First World Country?
Sure!

But understanding most of that makes you an intelligent, insightful person, way ahead of most of the countryfolk you share the air with.

So less of the 'asshole' and being 'out of Fucks to give!' OK?

All the way back to Reagan: The GOP gets in power, they drive up the debt, cut services, cut taxes for teh rich and leave the mess for the Democrats to fix. We fix it, they get power again, and trash America again. Red states still depend on blue state money to stay afloat, so my take is this: Time to let Republicans take responsibility for their own decisions, and stop baling them out. Stop sending money to red states - they have had more than enough time to figure out how to get more income (IOW, they keep cutting taxes for big business and the rich, then wonder why they have a deficit).
Make it loud and clear - you vote GOP, debt and grift is what you get. This is the result of voting Republican over and over, so, fix the mess caused by your vote, or vote for the party that has been, for decades, trying to save your dumb asses..

I have several bookmarks to those threads saved but alas, the old DU is gone.

At our monthly liberal meet up group last night, I brought up the topic of cyclical economic cycles. High points and low points independent of who is President. We're overdue for one. I'd hate to see people suffer, but I think a prolonged recession is the best, and maybe only, way to temper the MAGA movement.

That plus a strong anti-woman feeling that far too many Americans have. Not just about who would be president, but the whole thing about women not having the right to decide what they can do with their own bodies.
So we had a capable, caring, compassionate, kind black woman running against a proven misogynistic, racist, callous, self-absorbed monster.
And they picked the monster.
It's going to hurt this nation; we may never recover. But, the pain will be shared by both those who voted for Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.
Sometimes the kid will touch the hot stove even after repeated warnings about getting burnt.
But in this case, we're all getting burned....except for the ultra-rich; they're gonna be OK.

~ low-income people who voted for Trump expecting him to protect Obamacare, Social Security, Medicare, etc.

So, what are they supposed to do? Magically understand they're being lied to?

~ people who can't do basic research and

Why is this the case? Are people born unable to do basic research, or is it that way because somebody intends it to be that way? (koff)Kochs, Mellons, Buffets, Musks, etc. (koff)

~ understand Dems are the ones who fought for these programs over the decades

Same as above.

~ the MSM and other people who normalized/sanewashed the maniac

These are people who, justifiably, should "suffer" in that we should at least recognize how complicit they are and not pay them any attention other than to point out their gullibility or outright collusion.

~ held Kamala Harris to a completely different standard during the campaign

This needs to be a persistent effort and it should happen before the stakes are so high. And it should happen in all the cases we can manage. Maybe there should be a Wikipedia-like site used as a clearing house to identify all the propaganda and canards and distribute the logical and rhetorical tools for countering it without burning too much collective attention.

~ people like Bill Maher who want liberals to be nice to conservatives

Do we have any doubt about where his loyalties lie? He makes only enough sense that he can't be perfunctorily ignored, then so consistently leavens that with flakey layers of implicit bias that it's like he's dishing out fascist baklava pathologically.

But yeah he, and people like him, should be recognized for what they are: shills for fascist customers - at best.

~ game has changed since November 2024

Same engines, higher gear.

~ all out of f*cks to give.

But this is where they want you.

Tim Snyder says "Do Not Obey in Advance."

A close second might be "Don't go 'tilt' if you can help it."

They love the idea of bezerk, for themselves and for you. 'Bezerk" means rationality is out the window. The difference is they want everyone to see see their bezerk as "righteous anger" and paint your bezerk as shear derangement for everyone to see.
