The U.S. Navy conducted a missing man formation flyover in honor of the late President Jimmy Carter's Navy service and his time as commander-in-chief.
Carter graduated from the Naval Academy in 1946 and reached the rank of lieutenant. He served until 1953, when he was honorably discharged.

I was 22 when he was elected, 23 when inaugurated. The hope and change was exhilaration!

My very first vote in 1976, I was so ecstatic that he won! An outsider who sought to change the way Americans think. Ahead of his time.
