A post earlier said the felons can't enter Canada, which is why PM Trudeau...

traveled to MAL to tell trump a couple of weeks ago that Canada will not become the 51st state.

Anyone know what other countries deny felons entry and our convicted felon president can't emter?

What a disgrace.

1. Convicted felons, such as Trump, can get permits to enter Canada Fact check

While Canada can bar convicted felons from entering the country, there is no evidence the meeting came in Florida because Trump is not allowed in Canada. A spokesperson for the Canadian Border Services Agency said waivers can be granted on a case-by-case basis, and a Canadian immigration lawyer said a permit allowing Trump to enter should be granted with little difficulty.

Can Trump travel outside the U.S.?
Yes. As president, Trump will have a diplomatic passport enabling him to travel to foreign countries for official business and can also keep a regular, or tourist passport. People sentenced to incarceration or probation can have their passports denied or revoked, but that isn't the case with Trump.

Some countries restrict or reserve the right to prohibit visits from people with felony convictions, including Canada, the United Kingdom and Israel. https://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/president-elect-donald-trump-is-a-convicted-felon-here-are-the-rights-he-is-set-to-lose/6102256/

I'm sure he will get waivers...Bush had to get waivers to travel to Canada. And Trump was already a convicted felon when he visited Israel a few months ago. Also heads of states do not go through customs.

Head of State.

That said, Canada is so strict on DUIs that a friend of mine who pled nolo contendere as an ill-informed and ill-advised* 20-something-- 4 decades or more ago, found she would have to hire an attorney for significant $$$ and pursue a six-month or longer process to get past a denial of entrance to Canada. She wants to go with family, but this is going to make it difficult as she will also have to pay for a records search in the semi-rural police precinct that charged her 40+ years ago--since none of their much older records are digitized, but in storage (if they can retrieve them at all). But she's not a $$$$$ traveler. Nor is she a 34-count felon--nor a felon at all.

*police did not even perform a breathalyzer but she was caught up in a roadside "check" and the passenger with her was inebriated, while she had had nothing to drink. I have no reason to disbelieve her and have never seen her drink alcohol as an observant Mormon.

President's Visit to Canada

However, as Head of State, they probably asked him, "Are you planning to drive?" He probably had to show some proof that he would have a driver.
----------------------
Although "Head of State" is probably not mentioned in their laws, I think the "spirit" of these laws are to avoid having felons roaming lose committing crimes in their country (countries) and drunk drivers driving in their country (countries). Even though he's a convicted felon, I highly doubt that Trump has an intention of committing a crime while visiting. However, I wonder if they could use this to avoid a waiver if they didn't want to "deal with him"? (I kinda doubt it)

5. As I mentioned, it is automatically exempted for a Head of State. They aren't screened.

This takes place at border crossings or for those requesting visas. Neither, which a US President would be required to do.

If we next elect a convicted murderer, I don't know that even THAT would change things. This country is going to hell in a hand basket. 'Sorry for the negativity...

They have very strict rules. There is a time limit, though. A person who gets a DUI isn't permanently barred from entering Canada--it's a few years (I think).
