When we send a corrupt, disgraceful tyrant to fill a patriotic president's job
we get Donald Trump, a golden toilet and a black soul. We get cruelty as actual, official policy. We get shameful degradation of our history, our traditions, our values….even our heroes.
We get age-old systems of support demolished, we get barbaric treatment of immigrants, we get attacks on the Smithsonian, colleges, law firms. We get honored lists of historic figures destroyed. We get degradation of all standards that guide fairness, justice, equality. We get the functioning of all our institutions deliberately interfered with.
We get the elimination of trusted relationships with allies swapped for the formation of relationships with enemies. We get Pete Hegseth, Pam Bondi, Dr. Oz.
We get a grinning, golf cart riding, 5-deferment coward in place of a president standing in profound grief at the arrival of four caskets holding deceased members of our military.
We get active plans to end voting rights and civil rights. We get a nationwide effort to turn the simple acts of empathy and tolerance into some horrific, anti-American thing called “woke” which according to Trump is worse than Communism.
We get a large group of fascists eagerly working on ending Head Start, veteran’s suicide prevention hotlines, food pantries, anything that helps anyone other the entitled, upper level….the rightful heirs of power, land and money.
I don’t know how we recover from this horrible onslaught of evil, but we must.
