Teslas foray into the restaurant business is starting to mirror its vehicle selection.
Less than three weeks after opening, the charging station/restaurant has drastically scaled back its menu, removing several offerings. As of Aug. 5, reports Eater, there were just five sandwiches left on the menu, the same number of vehicles the company sells.
The number of sides has been similarly reduced to two, along with two flavors of pie, all of which are available to order from Teslas in-car infotainment system.

Elon Musk has envisioned the Tesla Diner as something that could expand nationwide.

(15,113 posts)Sort of a Jetson's diner vibe. Could be cool.
But all vibe in the world can't overcome not having decent food at the right price point.
And from what I understand, very little money went into maintaining a quality menu after the opening.
And that " Movie screen" monstrosity in the parking lot is apparently another huge ill-considered turnoff

(4,634 posts)to the concept of "diner" which is to reflect the look of a railroad dining car.
I'm a a traditionalist at heart. The Musk concept if more like a flying saucer.
I'm in NJ - the State that has the most diners, if that gives me any more cred regarding this. :shrug
