It is time to end the shut down and take away insurance from a large part of the population, leaving them defenceless, if they get sick. Fixed it for you.

At 27 was $100 now will be $900. The only thing good about it, is it finally affects my republican daughter who helps her financially. She is finally seeing what I have been talking about, how the tax cuts were permanent for the rich from years ago but healthcare subsidies end this year.

My granddaughter is married with two toddlers so can't go without insurance. Her husband stays home and watches the kids and they live in CA so my daughter pays part of their expensive rent.

She did, she really did, and regretting her vote now is meaningless. It's just a shame that the rest of us, who knew better, didn't vote for him.

Anyone at all who voted for him deserves the cuts. Alas, the rest of us don't but we lose out also.

I'm entirely over hearing about people who voted for Trump and now regret it.

So who will Republican daughter vote for in the mid-term? Democrats all the way? She'll probably vote for every person with an R after their name and just not understand why things continue to get worse.

But living in CA I am never worried her vote will change anything, just glad she will finally feel what is happening. Her boyfriend of 7 yrs worked on her for years before she changed and the other managers at work, she is manager makes good money and thought she could save money with republicans.

My younger daughter a CPA has told her she would have to be rich not just good money for it to help.

My fingers have been crossed for years she will break up with boyfriend, I can't stand him.

The republicans have put dems in a bad spot here. So what happens at the end of December? Everyone pays higher health care costs, and we're still hungry?

by not tapping emergency funds for SNAP. They could do this, but they've chosen not to.

Republicans have put themselves into this position: Trump is claiming that he has ultimate authority over everybody. To prove this, he has formed a secret federal police force which he has specifically sent into cities where the public elected Democrats, and he is hunting people down and disappearing them without due process, in violation of their Constitutional rights. He's also knocked down one third of the White House without asking anybody for permission. He's also using the US military to murder people in the Caribbean, just because he says he can.

Trump's position is that it doesn't matter what bills Congress passes or what money they appropriate, he can just decide where and when to spend that money all on his own, like a king. He can take funding for disaster relief and make sure it only goes to states where the majority voted for him. He can cut money from infrastructure projects in states where the majority voted against him. He can pay the military with a $130 million donation from a private citizen.

So the Dems are right -- what's the point in re-opening the government if they can't trust that the money they're appropriating will ever reach the people it's supposed to? They weren't elected to Congress just to rubber-stamp everything that Trump wants. Democrats try and try to save people from the worst excesses of Republicans, but Trump has now thwarted their power to even do that. There's little they can do to stop the ship sinking at this point, even if they do bend the knee and re-open government.

But... when the ship sinks, people blame the captain. Trump is the captain -- and not only is he the captain, but he's spent every day of the last year making sure that everyone is reminded that he's the captain -- he's doing it all by himself, with no assistance from anyone else, and he's repeatedly told everyone that he's the best captain the world has ever seen, or will ever see. He's already positioned himself as the figurehead for whatever is about to happen. And his current approval/disapproval numbers are already underwater on all the issues. I don't see how this gets better for him when his only response to people going hungry is to whine that it's the Democrats' fault.

That will be Nov 1st. The POINT of ALL of this, is for the average MAGA to finally have to touch the hot stove.
Besides. What are dems supposed to do when Trump and his house elves TOTALLY CONTROL CONGRESS?
THEY can stop this in 5 minutes, but trump won't let them.
If they want OUR help bailing them out of their own problem they put themselves in, they have to cave to our demands. Again, Trump WONT LET THEM.
The only other option, is to put dems back in control of congress.
Until the average MAGA understands all that, no, leave it the fuck shut down.
Cause MAGA owns this one.
Fuck em.

Li’l Pervy the Speaker of the House gift wrapped his spine and gave it to Trump.

Li’l Pervy has as good as dissolved the House of Representatives. Do you understand what that means? HE CAN STOP THIS ANY TIME HE WANTS.

What MAGAGOP is demanding of Democrats is complete capitulation, under pretext of negotiation, and by now anybody with eyes to see knows that.

The infinite monkey theory is sometimes used to demonstrate a whole variety of things, but we must keep in mind that monkeys can be trained. We are dealing with republicans who willfully derail any attempts at progress. There is no point to be made.
