Taxing hedge funds a social security tax would be a bad idea. I’ve read that this would generate significant funds.

Social Security Tax Limit
Current Limits

The Social Security tax limit is the maximum amount of earnings subject to Social Security taxes. For 2025, this limit is set at $176,100. This means that any income earned above this amount is not subject to Social Security taxes.
Future Changes

In 2026, the limit will increase to $184,500. This annual adjustment is made to keep pace with wage growth.

Just create a donut hole from current cap to 750k or a million then start it back up.

Will their SS benefits rise to reflect the additional amounts they are being taxed on?

as most workers on ALL of their income---

and not only would Social Security and SSDI be fully funded for the rest of the century--
but perhaps benefits could even be expanded!

YES, Democrats should RUN on this issue--- and the sooner the better!
(It would rhyme well with 'no kings'!)

I fear that the Repubs will privatize both Social Security and Medicare before the 2028 election.

Every Social Security Trustee's Report since at least 2010 has included this prediction, plus or minus a few years.
