How would Trump parse out his own mentions in the Epstein files from Democrats his DOJ would investigate

...claiming his mentions in the files is sacrosanct and Democrats' is open to politicizing and exploitation by Bondi's cabal?

Trump can't hide behind the excuse that ongoing investigations prevent disclosure of files to Congress that mention his name, while at the same time urging or ordering DOJ to stir up shit about else's incriminating or embarrassing revelations.

Agreeing to the vote was desperate face-saving to technically avoid the clear and devastating loss, and a strategic wash that makes the punditry that he agreed to the vote because of some cunning plan to get DOJ to stonewall the release suspect. He can't have it both ways; he's caught himself up in his own rhetoric.

"I will be asking A.G. Pam Bondi, and the Department of Justice, together with our great patriots at the FBI, to investigate Jeffrey Epstein’s involvement and relationship with Bill Clinton, Larry Summers, Reid Hoffman, J.P. Morgan Chase, and many other people and institutions, to determine what was going on with them, and him," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

...moreover, what are we supposed to believe stopped Bondi and Trump from screaming out evidence they found against Democrats or anyone other then Epstein, Maxwell, or Trump from the WH rooftop to reporters coincidentally huddling underneath and filming them by now?

Bruce Green, a former federal prosecutor in the Southern District of New York and current director of the Louis Stein Center for Law and Ethics at Fordham University School of Law, doesn’t believe Trump will use the investigation to block the release of files directly, but thinks that it “can be used as an excuse by Republican members of Congress to oppose the release of the files, on the ostensible ground that doing so would interfere with an ongoing federal investigation.”

“I don’t envision President Trump invoking executive privilege in response to a law or order directing DOJ to release the files, because that would place responsibility for withholding their disclosure squarely on his shoulders,” he says.

Green describes the DOJ investigation as “illegitimate,” in any case.

“The federal prosecutors already conducted an investigation, based in part on the documents it amassed, and it saw no justification for additional indictments -- whether of Democrats or anyone else,” he says.

“Even if this were a legitimate investigation, there would be no good reason to think that releasing the Epstein files would interfere with it, particularly given how much has been released already,” he adds.

Cool, that means no 'ongoing investigations' defense or claim from DOJ for Trump's own incriminating mentions in the files; so we can determine what was going on with them, and him.

remain extremely skeptical.

"kashoggi? nobody liked kashoggi anyway. you work for a failing deranged network and you're ugly. "

...either their belief they can manage this politically, or their realization it's their only game left.

If I'm being really cynical, I'd think this represents a bird in the hand strategy where Vance is waiting in the wings to usher in a new generation of maga mayham with slightly less stupidity and less open-antiAmericanism for flavor.

I mean, what's really on with Marge?

they will let trump take the blame for the worst destruction, then present vance as a less obnoxious replacement.

problem is vance does not have the charisma. and is not the only ambitious flunky who wants the job.
