https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/12/10/tourists-will-have-to-provide-five-years-of-social-media/The Trump administration has outlined a new plan to force tourists from dozens of countries to submit five years of social media history to be granted access to the US.
Foreign tourists will be forced to hand over five years of social media history to be granted entry into the US in what marks the latest move in Donald Trump's border crackdown.
The new "mandatory" requirement was detailed in a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) document on Tuesday outlining how the administration will comply with the president's demand for foreign visitors to be vetted and screened to the maximum degree possible. The new rule is set to affect visitors from dozens of countries, including the UK, France and Germany, as it will apply to those who benefit from the visa waiver programme.

(23,655 posts)I have a story of a work friend's parents returning to the US from visiting their daughter in Vietnam. This is an old Dutch couple in their late 60s from West Michigan. ICE pulled them into a room at JFK and began grilling them about their social media posts about Trump. They held them for several hours with no food or water or access to bathrooms.

The curious moment came during Duffys press conference at Reagan International Airport on Monday, when he announced $1 billion in funding for grant programs to make the experience better in airports.
I want to expand the play areas for kids, Duffy said while flanked by Health and Human Services honcho Robert Kennedy Jr. I want additional nursing pods for nursing mothers. Maybe I want a workout area where people might get some blood flowing, doing some pull-ups or some step-ups in the airport.

The day will come when this man is no longer the leader. Our respect and reputation around the world has been severely damaged.

(527 posts)Oh this is going to go over well this summer with all the foreign tourists coming over to watch their countries play in the World Cup. I have a friend who is from Brasil who married an American. Her father and brother want to come over to visit her but were told it will cost them $250 each just to enter the country.
The Trump admin also is charging foreign visitors a $100 surcharge each to visit national parks. Just think how many of these people visit Yellowstone and contribute to the local economy around the park. This will keep them away.

It all started with the Wall, which I said had the real intent of keeping us in rather than keeping out immigrants.
