Iran: The Irony

Current Iranian students are shouting "Death to the dictator," "No to scarf, no to suppression," and direct calls for the overthrow of the regime, including "Death to Khamenei" and "Mullahs must leave Iran".

Their grandfathers were students in 1978-79, shouting "Death to the Shah", leading to his abdication, and the ascent of the fundamentalist religious regime. They stormed the American Embassy, and holding 66 American hostages, with the last one being released in 1981. Women were forced from mini-skirts into burkas.

The pendulum does swing both ways.
