Mar 9, 2026 Bulwark Takes
Sam Stein and Will Saletan give their takes on why Lindsey Graham is suddenly everywhere celebrating the escalation against Iran and why even some Republicans are alarmed by his rhetoric. As Graham cheers the bombing campaign and openly talks about taking on other regimes around the world, critics including Meghan McCain warn that his messaging is scaring voters and pushing the U.S. toward endless wars. Sam and Will trace Grahams long obsession with regime change, how hes learned to appeal to Donald Trump, and why this moment may represent the culmination of a decades-long foreign policy vision.

(589 posts)Graham has been blackmailed by Trump for years. "You do what I say or I'll out you!" On the rare occasions when he openly disagreed with Trump, like after January 6th, he was back on board within two days like he got a phone call which forced him back into line. Laura Loomer, whom Trump likes, outed Graham but everyone ignored it. Even Graham never responded to her claim. You look at what Graham is saying and know that Trump told him to say it because Graham has long since lost all of his self respect.

(3,943 posts)... a miserable little turd of a man clinging to whatever tattered remnants of relevance he may still have. His desperate histrionics to garner attention are too pitiful for words.
