Oddly, the title on Hacker News said "Medical technology company in Michigan hit by suspected Iran-linked cyberattack" when there was no mention of Iran in the article, nor from Stryker itself.

FOX 17 learned Stryker fell victim to the attack, which is wiping phones and computers tied to the company's systems, according to Portage Public Safety.
A Stryker spokesperson confirmed it was targeted through its Microsoft suite of technology which disrupted its networks in facilities across the world. The company said it has contained the situation, noting no evidence of ransomware or malware has been found.
The scope of the impact was still being evaluated as of Wednesday afternoon. Stryker said it was continuing to support customers and partners through the cyber attack.

Our teams are working rapidly to understand the impact of the attack on our systems.
Stryker has business continuity measures in place to continue to support our customers and partners. We are committed to transparency and will keep stakeholders informed as we know more.
WAS IT IRAN?
The Mirror reports multiple global attacks by Iranian hackers.

Apparently a hacker group 'Handala hackers'
The hackers say they targeted Stryker in retaliation for US bombing of all-girls school in Iran. They say they have wiped more that 200,000 Stryker systems, servers, and mobile devices and stole 50 terabytes of critical data, forcing Stryker offices in 79 countries to shut down

but yes, the heavy equipment showed up in an image search.
This is the medical outfit.
Hackers will hit any vulnerability they find. Not sure if they are getting more strategic.
This one seems just purely destructive as opposed to ransomware attacks.

(14,424 posts)He was the head of orthopedics at the hospital. My dad took me to the hospital after breaking my leg ski jumping. It was a Sunday afternoon and everyone had left and he was about to go home. He was kind of a big wig, even then, but he said he would take care of me. Years later, I worked in that same hospital as a student nurse and then later as a graduate nurse on the orthopedic word. That was all before he became a billionaire with his invention of products for hospital patients.

Surprise, my undergrad physics advisor, Alan Cormack, co-won a Nobel Prize for CAT scan technology.
Later, working on staff at Cal Berkeley, I met a bunch.
