There's a YouTube video that came out yesterday from CBS News titled: "We visited "ground zero" for hospice fraud: Los Angeles, California". It's part of "CBS News Digital Investigations: Finding Fraud", which has only one video that I've been able to find so far.
The emphasis on hospice fraud, the focus on Los Angeles, and the long-form spelling out of California (instead of just referring to L.A., or abbreviating CA) is psyops designed to put a bad taste in people's mouths about a blue city in my blue state.
I won't link to it here because I don't want to give those assholes one more view than they deserve. I watched it, and it pushes all of the sympathy buttons to turn people against California "just because". I'm sure it'll add to the drumbeat of calls to suspend all federal payments to Cali so Trump can continue his war against blue states.
It has spooky music, sympathetic characters who cried, visiting fake store fronts where fraudulent operations are hosted, showing a selectively edited interview with the Attorney General of CA that makes him look unconcerned.
And the YouTube comments are a MAGA-fest of Cali bashing.
As for claims that CA is the worst for hospice fraud - that may be true. But CBS didn't show any data to prove it or provide context. They only focused on fraud going on in L.A.
Bear in mind that we're the highest population state (almost 40M people) with a senior demographic that increases every year. If hospice scammers are going to target a state, Cali's the place. They won't focus on Wyoming for Pete's sake. Cali's likely the worst due to incentives for fraud driven by the demographics, population density, gullible seniors and grieving families. I'd like to see the numbers for Florida and Arizona on a per capita basis.
