Who needs Hegseth appealing in long form to 'his' Christian deity, whichever flavor thereof he thinks he is trying to reach: presumably, it's Yahweh here since the psalm relates to David's perspective?
His recitation is Psalm 144, it seems. Which version, though, has he chosen?! Should one brand him a heretic for not cleaving to the NIV version? Should he recant and acknowledge his textual heresies against the True Word of the Lord? Shouldn't he properly be reciting Old Testament verses in Hebrew/Aramaic and New Testament verses in Koine Greek? After all, a serious religion upon which a war may be righteously based and prosecuted needs to hold to some standards!
[Of David.]
1 Praise be to the Lord my Rock,
who trains my hands for war,
my fingers for battle.
2 He is my loving God and my fortress,
my stronghold and my deliverer,
my shield, in whom I take refuge,
who subdues peoples[a] under me.

Then comes Hegseth's prayer:
"May the Lord grant unyielding strength and refuge to our warriors,
unbreakable protection to them and our homeland,
and total victory over those who seek to harm them. And Amen.
God bless our troops and this mission."

"And Amen" seems such a 'natural' way to end a prayer. Instead, his closing seems more like an "And I'm outta here!" appended to the prayer, but maybe Hegseth prays all the time.
It is just that during 15 years in the Church, it never occurred that the pastor ever screwed up the formal ending to a prayer. I think that Hegseth's seeming casual disregard for the closing of a prayer is indicative of the level of seriousness that Hegseth brings to his role of Secretary of Defense: i.e., no more seriousness than that of some drunken frat boy out to score on a Saturday night. His religion seems an gaudy ornament to match his pocket handkerchief and lapel pin, but what do I know?

That last text seems to make the connection to the heavy religious slant from a local news channel understandable, it seems. That segment would seem to be a segment pushed down from Sinclair. Indoctrination is for everyone, I suppose.
