📌#Manhattan | #NewYork

At this time, numerous firefighters and emergency crews are on scene battling a rooftop fire on East 43rd Street in Manhattan, near Grand Central.
Thick smoke is rising into the air as crews work urgently to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading throughout the building. If it's near Grand Central, it's near the Chrysler Buiilding. I'd assume the building is sprinklered and standpiped. NBachers 14 hrs ago #5

HVAC units. Most likely the wiring failed and set the roof and vents a blaze. Just a guess. n/t Jacson6 13 hrs ago #7

The wind-driven fire was under control within about an hour and a half and authorities said there is no impact to the parade.

.....
The building is an office-to-residential conversion being renovated into 441 rental units, with 111 of them affordable housing.

The structure is largely vacant at the moment, with the exception of the 20,000-square-foot T-Squared Social venue operating on the ground level.

Officials said an EMS lieutenant and a police officer suffered minor injuries. All of the construction workers were accounted for.
