(14,394 posts)Then Barron can serve at 6'7 pr 6'9 or however the hell tall he is. Robinson's only problem was that he initially wanted to serve on submarines and he was too tall for that, so he went elsewhere in the Navy. I think Barron is too tall for helicopters (boo hoo) so he might have to serve in the ground troops like Prince Harry did. If it's good enough for British royalty, it's damn well good enough for American pretend royalty.

(16,448 posts)He could still serve by getting a height waiver.

(14,394 posts)See my post above! Barron is NOT too tall to serve.

(54,448 posts)junior year of high school (age 1617). However, during his senior year (age 1718) in high school, he experienced a large growth spurt and grew to 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m). He had not played organized basketball or attended any basketball camps, but the school's basketball coach added him to the team. Robinson earned all-area and all-district honors but generated little interest among college basketball coaches.
Robinson graduated from Osbourn Park in 1983. He achieved a score of 1320 on the SAT and subsequently attended the United States Naval Academy, where he would major in mathematics and play on the basketball team. At the time the Naval Academy had a height restriction of 6 ft 6 in (1.98 m) for all midshipmen, but in the autumn when the new academic year began, Robinson had grown to 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m). Assuming that he was unlikely to grow much more, the academy's superintendent granted him a waiver, but Robinson continued growing, and by the start of his second year at the academy he had nearly reached his adult height of 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m), which later prevented him from serving on any U.S. Navy ships.

(53,206 posts)I can think of a few MOS he'd be okay in.
He looks good, so 46S Public Affairs Mass Communications Specialist would work. These soldiers work at Armed Forces Network television and radio stations.
92A Automated Logistical Specialist would also be good.
Anything else? They're not going to give him anything that gets him too close to where fighting is happening. The risks of the enemy making a huge public coup by killing a president's son would be too great.

(14,394 posts)He might have been a REMF, but he was still on the ground. I can think of a lot of other royalty who served. Prince Philip was a naval officer, as was King George V before his accession. There were dukes who served in WWII, some of whom were actually killed in action or while serving---George V's youngest brother, IIRC, was one. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor fkew a helicopter in the Falklands. The Brits are more willing to allow their precious progeny to serve than Shitler is.

(53,206 posts)English royalty have a very long history of military service, and several have died on active duty. We have no similar tradition.
Thinking in sergeant mode, I dont want any of the Trumps in the military. Even if they were fantastic soldiers, the amount of overhead associated with having Donald Trumps kid in your unit would break its chain of command and NCO support channel.

(1,257 posts)all Presidents who bomb foreign countries need to enlist?

(40,290 posts)And the ones who paid a doctor to forge documents so he could dodge the draft.

(1,257 posts)that would include Hunter, Sasha, Malia, Chelsea, etc. I just don't remember any calls for them to enlist.

(40,290 posts)And didn't claim the war was over again and again. And of course did not call Medicare a scam.
Greg_In_SF
(1,257 posts)your criteria. You said the children of all President's who bombed foreign countries should have to enlist
During the military intervention in Libya, there were civilian casualties, including in areas where schools were located. The military actions were aimed at military targets but involved significant civilian impact.
