Apparently Collins has been lying about her health as she is claiming now that she has had a tremor since she started as a senator.
I am not convinced this is the whole story because if she is now telling the truth and has had it for years then why did the trembling just start in the last five years or so and get worse?

(12,780 posts)I've only have it in hands. My Dad and his brother had it, I don't think my grandpa had it.

(5,705 posts)so did his dad. He, too, had difficulty writing, especially back when writing checks in public
was so common.

(179,284 posts)So do I, as did my father, his mother, and her father. I don't know about anyone further back.
It's not a big deal in my case, it means my hands shake. Be happy that I didn't become a brain surgeon. There's no tumors involved.

(239 posts)Collins is a horrible Senator. But her condition is legit and it has nothing to do with anything that we should be talking about in terms of policy, character or anything else thats actually important.

(778 posts)She made a statement and it might help others under what condition is causing her tremors and that it is benign. Knowledge about medical conditions can be important as are our responses to hearing about them. I understand not discussing private medical conditions and not shaming others for such, but this seems to be an opportunity to learn about a condition more common than youd think.

(239 posts)I hate to be defending Susan Collins but she has had to explain this a lot because the obvious voice issues she has. I know I've heard her talk about it way before now.
Posts that totally blow it should be deleted. It was worded to make it sound like Collins has some kind of cancer that she has been hiding... because they misread "tremor" as "tumor", I guess. If someone wants to talk about that condition, make a new thread to talk about that condition.

She has a medical condition shes had to explain, most here corrected OP. I mentioned a correction may be more informative than removal of the topic. Im generally against removal of topics rather than corrections because removal ignores both the pedagogical and humanitarian effects of sharing healthy knowledge. Information rarely comes in nice neat boxes.

(12,456 posts)My phone autocorrect just made it "tumor" instead of "tremor" for some reason. The quote from the article says "tremor". The link says "tremor".
The point is she has been lying. She claims to have had it the entire time she has been a senator but has never mentioned it. She purposely hide it at the very least. Plus, I'm not convinced she was telling the truth because there is no noticable shake even just 7 or 8 years ago in a video montage someone had put together on Instagram.
It reminds me of the 2024 story of Rep Kay Granger, the chair of the House appropriations committee at the time, was missing from the House for months without explanation, only to be discovered in a memory care facility by a local newspaper.

I have no insight into Collins's tremor.

(239 posts)I'm not going to deep dive into this because she isn't worth it. But her tremors are not some brand new thing.
Beat her on the issues... and I hope Platner can do that, despite my reservations about him.

(5,230 posts)I don't really give a SHIT about 'accuracy' anymore---
MAGGOTS and REPUBLICANS LIE about EVERYTHING!!!!---
but I think that Democrats DON'T LIE QUITE ENOUGH---!!!
So I will GLADLY re-post the rumor that Susan Collins "HAS A TUMOR"
on the social media sites which I use---
and might quite gladly make up a completely-fabricated accusation against her,
about how she sexually abused pre-adult young males (and females!)
Hey--- WHAT WOULD REPUBLICANS DO (WWRD) ??????
Flagrant Lying WORKS for THEM, especially in the 2024 presidential election---
TRUTH doesn't seem to work any more---
so Democrats should feel free to LIE as much as MAGGOTS---
just to try to neutralize Republican LIES.....
(Also use THE TRUTH, since it is pretty goddamn BAD!)
So I OPPOSE any requests for members of this site
to "delete' any posts which another member
thinks might be 'inaccurate'

(5,230 posts)I WOULD HAVE BEEN a Republican,
if I had been alive somewhere between 1854
and the end of the Teddy Roosevelt era---
but after that, they sold out to big business
and ignored the rights of those upon thom
the founding of their party had been based upon....

(320,318 posts)maybe lying about that because she wants to demonstrate that she's been able to do her job for years with said tremor.
Just a first glance suspicious.. because she lies like everyone who supports Traitor mouth disease
