the revenge tour is increasingly imperiling Trumps midterm agenda on the Hill.
Those so-called victories over the last couple weeks are just a mirage. They are self-owns, said one senior Senate Republican operative, granted anonymity to speak candidly about frustration with the White House. Were not actually beating Democrats, and were not actually advancing legislation. Instead, gas is up 45% due to our actions and the Presidents decision to go to war with Iran. Hes focused on the ballroom. Hes announced a $1.8 billion restitution fund with zero details or congressional authority to do so. It just is crazy.
What is the return on investment for Trump? said Greg Lamantia, a Texas businessman who supports Cornyn, about Trumps Paxton endorsement. I dont understand why you take this risk, versus sitting back and doing nothing. Now youve created an enemy for six months, when you have a razor-thin majority.
It seems to me his agenda is mostly vengeance, said former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.), who spent 15 months as a vocal Trump critic after deciding not to run for reelection during Trumps first term. Its not just those that hes going after hes gonna have to deal with Massie and Cornyn and Cassidy its anybody whos gotten past the filing deadline, or past their primary, and realizing that supporting a lot of what he wants is not good for the general election.

Nah, he'll be a complete asshole until the day he fucking dies. Being extremely small and vindictive is who the fuck he is. It's the only thing he is besides orange.

At this rate, it will only take 269 more years before the rest of the Republicans in Congress see it, too.

Trump can be counted on doing two things: One, he is reactive and, second, he is vengeful. What this means is that he never thinks about the consequences. Look at what he did to Iran. He expected NATO to step in when things began to fall apart. And, now that the economy is going south, and gas prices are going up, he simply pushes aside the criticism by either asking Americans to put up with it, or that he doesn't care.
So, yes, now that the Republicans he pushed aside have nothing to lose, it's time to go scorched earth.
