Residents in Alabama city complain of abandoned housing

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — Residents of one neighborhood in a southwest Alabama city say their concerns about an abandoned public housing development are being ignored.

WALA-TV reports resident Gary Miller told the Mobile City Council that he's suffering through "deplorable conditions" at the former Josephine Allen housing development.

Miller says the development was closed eight years ago, but left to rot. Residents say there are problems with illegal dumping, homeless people and wild animals.

Miller and others say they feel their neighborhood is "out of sight, out of mind."
