Bible course in Alabama public school draws fire from watchdog group

Juniors and seniors in one north Alabama school district could soon be studying the Bible and getting high school and college credit for the course.

Morgan County Schools on Tuesday held an information session for students interested in taking a “Survey of the Bible” dual enrollment online course from Piedmont International University, a Christian college located in North Carolina.

The district’s five high schools posted notice of the interest meeting on their Facebook pages.

The school district is considering a partnership with Piedmont to offer the dual enrollment course, but those plans are not set in stone, Morgan County Superintendent Bill Hopkins told AL.com.
