Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley avoids scandal-related questions, sticks to lottery script

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley refused Friday to talk about impeachment and a recently released audio recording he had last year with a state lawmaker days after his divorce.

The governor, instead, mostly stuck to his script while speaking to reporters in Mobile -- to promote his lottery plan as a way to generate revenue to help close a gaping hole in the state's Medicaid obligations.

But following a tour at the University of South Alabama's Medical Center in Mobile, the governor was questioned about impeachment and an audio recording he had a year ago with Rep. Allen Farley, R-McCalla.

"I'm not concerned about anything except helping the children and the people in the state," Bentley said about the prospects of impeachment resurfacing next week. "That's all I'm concerned about. And, by the way, that's all I'm going to talk about."
