Activist Headquarters
Related: About this forumMy Obama Sad
The Democratic Party must leave the ground offices open after the election!
A place where a ripple of democratic common sense can grow into a statewide tsunami of Democratic voters.
My SAD:
Living in Salt Lake in 2008, it was thrilling to have an Obama headquarters where we could meet members of President Obamas team. We even had their cell phone numbers.
We finally had an official gathering place with phones we could work, meetings where ground trips to other states were organized, and met other Utah Democrats.
NOPE
This OASIS of like-minded people gave me HOPE for a better future for Utah.
HOPE DASHED
The week after the election, the office was shuttered and the cell phone numbers inoperable. No good byes.
GHOSTED
I was literally sad. It made no sense.
GOTV can no longer be a seasonal event in a country where most of the news and 1/3 of the electorate favor divisiveness and white-washing harmful regressive policies (understated).
How can we few democrats in opposition majority areas widen our circle out of thin air?
KEEP THE GROUND OFFICES OPEN
We can build a bigger better Democratic governance on all levels with less corporate dependence to tactically solve problems.
