Food charity pauses Gaza work after staff killed in Israeli strike

Source: BBC

The charity World Central Kitchen (WCK) has said it is pausing its operations in Gaza after a vehicle carrying its staff members was hit by an Israeli air strike. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said the target of the strike had taken part in the 7 October attacks on Israel, and was currently employed by the WCK.

WCK said it was "heartbroken to share" that a vehicle carrying staff had been hit and it was seeking more details, though added it had "no knowledge" that anyone in the car had ties to the 7 October attacks.

Palestinian state-run news agency Wafa reported that five people were killed in the strike in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, on Saturday, with three of them WCK employees.

They included the director of WCK's kitchens in Gaza, the agency added. Separately, British aid agency Save the Children said one of its staff members was also killed on Saturday afternoon in Khan Younis. Ahmad Faisal Isleem Al-Qadi, 39, had been returning home to his wife and three-year-old daughter from a mosque when he was killed, the charity added.

And yes, WCK did eventually return once things settled down but it seems that now that there is a cease-fire in Lebanon, the focus has shifted back to Gaza again.

and with respect to Hezbollah. Apparently the southern and eastern areas with Gaza & the West Bank dealing with Hamas is a whole other issue.

What might become a future wildcard is Syria, since the Assad opposition has been steadily taking over there and obviously Israel has a border with Syria.

No one can confirm or deny that one of the people in the car was a Hamas operative (aka 'Bad Guy').

Standard IDF multi-purpose rationale. Can be applied to buildings, schools, hospitals, refugee camps, a single car. Glib, yes?

The other people in the car? Collateral damage, doesn't matter, all part of a standard IDF operation.

Do people still think Israel is just 'defending' itself? Seriously?

“Nearly 100 martyrs were killed in the Gaza Strip within 24 hours as a result of the continuous Israeli bombing operations on homes and citizens’ gatherings,” the Gaza civil defense agency said in a statement.

The agency’s spokesman said the largest loss of life took place in the bombing of a home belonging to the al-Araj family in the Tall az-Zaatar neighborhood, which housed more than 40 people.

The statement added: “Until this moment, civil defense crews are prevented from exercising their duties in northern Gaza, and this has led to hundreds of citizens remaining under the rubble.”

sending a message to the relief organizations that they should not be in the business of, you know, feeding the children.

Trump told Bibi to "finish the job" in Gaza... and that just might mean starving everyone there until they leave, one way or another.

For all the college kids and Palestinian immigrants that voted 3rd party or even voted for Trump... sigh.

"Since 7 Oct 2023, more than 44,000 Palestinians have been killed and more than 104,000 wounded, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. Israel has destroyed large parts of Gaza and displaced nearly all of its 2.3 million people. The IDF claims that 17,000 of these casualties were militants. In the West Bank, 760 Palestinians have been killed and more than 12,769 injured by IDF personnel or Settlers since Oct 2023.

1) This means 27,000 Palestinians were KIA as collateral damage in the Gaza Strip. No trial or hearing.

2) On average, 3,384 Palestinians have been killed each month since Oct 2023. GOP President-elect Donald Trump takes office 20 Jan 2025.

If one of the most advanced militaries in the world is bombing an area it is an active combat zone.
People will get killed including civilians who live there or enter the area.

When the US bombed Bagdad with depleted uranium bombs, the city was 50% women and children. It was turned into a deadly combat zone.

I'd say that person was the real target.
They want all aid agencies out of Gaza, and they're willing to kill anyone they have to to achieve that end.
Couldn't they have just stopped the vehicle on that ground without killing all those people? Moot point now, isn't it.
Face it, this was a terrorist act., aimed at achieving it's intended goal:
Starvation of the Gaza population.

When people die of starvation, untreated wounds, disease, or exposure to the elements, the deaths are regarded as "NHI:" "No Humans Involved". This is why medical facilities and medics have been targeted by the IDF in Lebanon and Gaza, as well as food delivery channels in the enclave. As of 25 Oct, IDF attacks have killed at least 163 health and rescue workers across Lebanon and damaged 158 ambulances and 55 hospitals. This deprived Lebanese Hezbollah guerillas (and local civilians) of medical care to attend to their wounds or injuries.

When the IDF kicks UN personnel out of Gaza, aid workers and witnesses are removed from play.

In the US when a prisoner is found dead in his cell with no signs of foul play, the guards simply write "NHI" meaning no humans were involved in the death. The convict died of accelerated non-violent causes such as exposure, drug addiction withdrawal, malnutrition, thirst, or an untreated illness/wound without human involvement-- or worse, like the case below.
