Trump calls for immediate ceasefire in Ukraine and says a US withdrawal from NATO is possible

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Donald Trump on Sunday pushed Russian leader Vladimir Putin to act to reach an immediate ceasefire with Ukraine, describing it as part of his active efforts as president-elect to end the war despite being weeks from taking office.

“Zelensky and Ukraine would like to make a deal and stop the madness," Trump wrote on social media, referring to Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

In a television interview that aired Sunday, Trump also said he would be open to reducing military aid to Ukraine and pulling the United States out of NATO. Those are two threats that have alarmed Ukraine, NATO allies and many in the U.S. national security community.

Asked on NBC's “Meet the Press” if he were actively working to end the nearly 3-year-old Ukraine war, Trump said, “I am.”

Did Zelensky really say that or are you talking through your ass again Donny? I can imagine Pooty Poot's response isn't too kind.

Have you listened to the shit they're saying about you?

He only needs to say he may not be bound by Article 5, and withdraw from NATO's integrated military command as France did in 1966.

Failing to met his treaty obligations would fall into a violation of his oath of office as he is bound to adhere to the Constitution.

You'll never find 67 Senators that will vote to convict, nor will Johnson take it up in the House.

But Republicans are not a monolith and for many leaving our NATO allies vulnerable is a bridge to far even for them.
Not saying enough to get a conviction but if Johnson cannot cover for trump if enough Republicans and people become so disgusted they are forced to act.
He is a lame duck. They have to run for reelection.

Of course, that leaves out the fact that Trump is an insurrectionist and has no right to take office under the US Constitution.
