Matt Gaetz to join One America News as an anchor, source says

CNN — Former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz is expected to announce he is joining One America News Network (OAN) as an anchor, a source familiar told CNN. Last month, Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration to serve as attorney general after President-elect Donald Trump told him he didn’t have the votes in the Senate.

The Republican firebrand previously announced he is not returning to Congress next year. “I’m still going to be in the fight, but it’s going to be from a new perch. I do not intend to join the 119th Congress,” he told conservative activist Charlie Kirk in an interview last month.

When asked about the Gaetz hire on Monday night, OAN President Charles Herring declined to comment. The addition of Gaetz as an OAN anchor is a big gain for the far-right network, given that most of the channel’s personalities are not well known.

The network was dealt a significant blow when it was dropped by DirecTV in 2022. Other big distributors have been reluctant to carry its programming, and OAN has urged people to stream the network online instead. OAN has established itself as perhaps the most extreme of the pro-Trump news outlets.

8. Not surprising he would go there

Back in March of 2021 the NYT wrote that the DoJ was investigating Gaetz over a then-alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year old girl. Axios would report that Gaetz was contemplating not seeking reelection, and leaving Congress early for a job, not at OAN, but at Newsmax.

The next day the teen sex-trafficker went on Fox with Tucker Carlson and hilarity ensued!

Gaetz: “You and I went to dinner about two years ago, your wife was there, and I brought a friend of mine, you’ll remember her,."

Thus implicating Tucker Carlson!

A visibly stunned Carlson immediately saw what was happening:
“I don’t remember the woman you are speaking of or the context at all, honestly.”
Later adding: “That was one of the weirdest interviews I’ve ever conducted.”

OAN is just beating Newsmax to the bottom of the barrel.
