President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris delivered remarks at the Democratic National Committee's holiday reception in Washington, D.C., on Sunday. Both Biden and Harris thanked party members for all that they did for Harris' presidential campaign effort and Biden's presidency over the past four years.
Biden, who has just over a month left in office, talked about his legacy and the lasting effect he wanted to leave on America. "The one thing I've always believed about public service, and especially about the presidency, is the importance of asking yourself: 'Have we left the country in better shape than we found it?'" Biden said during his remarks.
"Today, I can say, with [every] fiber of my being, of all my heart, the answer to that question is a resounding 'yes.' Because of all of you assembled here, we can be proud we're leaving America in a better place today than we came here four years ago," Biden continued.
Biden did try to make the pitch that many of the benefits of his actions in office won't be fully felt by Americans for some time. He touted the success of the CHIPS and Science Act, but also argued that the money invested into American chip manufacturing plants wouldn't generate economic benefits for many years.

(510 posts)...they lost the battle that may cost them (and us) the war. I will vote for Democrats because their policies make America a better country, but their electoral acumen is highly disappointing.

voters preferred an agenda, like Trumps over such a positive agenda like Harriss.

(17,789 posts)... DJT drew just about as many votes as he did last time. His faithful are his faithful, and they hear what they want to hear.
He won because sufficient Democratic voters didn't show up. Millions chose apathy, not caring if it was really a vote in favor of DJT. IOW, the issue is not how many are for DJT, because those numbers are pretty stable. The issue is how many aren't sufficiently against him to vote accordingly.

(17,789 posts)My theory is that a certain number of voters are so used to the constant warnings, so used to the cries that "The Sky is Falling," that they've come to consider them nothing more than business as usual. "Yeah, yeah, yeah, heard that all before" would sum up this attitude. One of the consequences of the Post-Truth reality is that superlatives can no longer be believed -- everyone uses them, all the time. When everything is superlative, nothing is; even though the Sky was, in fact, falling this time, they could not be convinced it was any more than partisan rhetoric. Or not, but it's a theory consistent with the results.

(514 posts)Every bull horn Tv and Radio station needed to be used to get the message across. Republicans do that on nasty things they intended to do and their nasty rhetoric wad what Americans heard and believed.
We can solve all the worlds problems but if the world doesnt know it doesnt make a difference

(144,286 posts)That is where close to half a billion dollars were spent - ads on TV (OTA, cable, satellite, streaming), radio (OTA, satellite, streaming), independent internet steaming (on a multitude of internet streaming platforms like YouTube and their various topic programming), fixed highway and mobile billboards, banner planes, projectors that display messages on the sides of buildings, AND use of the new LED-enabled "messaging" facilities like this in Las Vegas that ran on their "Sphere" -
No there was NOT any "lack" (quantity) of "messaging" but perhaps a need for different "message content"... However more importantly, there is a need for our OWN microphone, owned by "LIBERALS/PROGRESSIVES", that runs 24/7/365 - whether on radio (that DU laughs at yet it works for the GOP) using a complete line-up of syndicated talkers AND using the latest talk format phenomena that has started to obsolete the traditional "broadcast" outlets - the "podcast" (and in this case, needing to go beyond the fly-by-night "influencer" thing). There needs to be a whole suite of "podcasters" talking "liberal/progressive" ideas and ideals.

(514 posts)Im talking about messaging being delivered every day so it sticks in the minds of people.
Americans hear 2 hours of debate and then everyday they get republican propaganda on tv and radio stations. What msnbc talks about is generated from Republicans talking or doing something
