'Success!' Trump declares victory in salvaging spending bill deal he helped torpedo

Source: Raw Story

President-elect Donald Trump declared "success in Washington" on Thursday afternoon and said lawmakers in Congress have come to a "very good deal" to avert a government shutdown.

"Speaker Mike Johnson and the House have come to a very good Deal for the American People. The newly agreed to American Relief Act of 2024 will keep the Government open, fund our Great Farmers and others, and provide relief for those severely impacted by the devastating hurricanes," wrote Trump.

The MAGA leader then touted a specific part of the deal: punting the debt ceiling for two years.

"A VERY important piece, VITAL to the America First Agenda, was added as well - The date of the very unnecessary Debt Ceiling will be pushed out two years, to January 30, 2027. Now we can Make America Great Again, very quickly, which is what the People gave us a mandate to accomplish."

The deal is like the NAFTA negotiations: It includes most of provisions the Democrats wanted plus the meaningless debt ceiling extension, which the House and Senate would certainly have approved every time over the next two years.

One thing that was dropped was a measure to lower prescription drug costs by clamping down on health plan administrators. United Healthcare will be pleased.

Dems can NOT message or win. If we don't capitulate to the "Musk" bill we are to blame. If we capitulate and agree to pass it; the MFer brags he did a fantastic negotiating job. Until Dems GET OUT IN FRONT OF THE ISSUES we will continue to lose in the eyes of the country and at the ballot box.

Someone, needed to point this out BEFORE tRUMP did and claims "only I can fix it".

We're screwed .

implementing Project 2025, Agenda47, mass deportations, Trump's vengeance tour, the tariffs, the draconian budget cuts, taking away the FDIC, threatening the social safety net, etc., the whole country will be aghast and turn against them. Even more so when the economy and the stock market crashes and unemployment and homelessness soar.

We think we're dealing with normal and honest people so it never occurs to anyone in a position of power to go over board on the hyperbole. They think that's being dishonest; nobody says you need to lie but you need to be like them, frantic and full of fury and worry and we're just too logical for that.

A shutdown will be 100% on Republicans. Democrats were able to pass things with a very slim majority and no Republican votes so there is no reason Republicans can't do the same thing. If they don't, it is their own fault, not Democrats.
