After nearly five months without casting a vote, the case of absentee congresswoman Rep. Kay Granger (R-Texas) appears to have been solved.
In an investigation published on Friday, The Dallas Express revealed that it had found that the outgoing legislator was living at an assisted living home in Fort Worth, Texas.
The paper made its discovery while trying to track down Granger, 81, to learn how she was voting on a contentious stop-gap spending bill which had put factions of the Republican party at odds with one another.
Granger has represented Texas 12th Congressional District since 1997 and is set to retire from her role at the end of this term. Looking into the congressional roll call, the outlet found that the former mayor of Fort Worths last vote in Washington, D.C., was on July 24.

He's got a fancy place out in the country. Helotes, Texas. (Next to San Antonio) I'm sure he frequents the Lowes near me.

(144,284 posts)But see, if the GOP had any sense of decency and had continued former Speaker Pelosi's "proxy voting" option in their Rules, then Granger could have voted that way. But their spite job version of "governing" bites them in the ass every time.

(30,636 posts)She was in Washington on Nov 19th. So it was her decision not to make this public.

(144,284 posts)which even prompted the lunatic (R) Anna Luna to protest not allowing it for pregnant members and demanding a Rules change the past couple years. And it was left out again as they continue to negotiate the new Rules for the House in the 119th Congress - https://www.aol.com/rep-luna-calls-speaker-johnson-000435996.html
So they knew about Granger and kept it under wraps while pointing and laughing at Biden and other Democrats (in order to hide their own issues by projection).

(144,284 posts)And THAT is a problem that gets pushed by the GOP when it comes to Democrats instead of having some "decency and compassion".
Watch what happens when the new session starts and you have Emeritus Nancy Pelosi now with a new hip (and what will be weeks of PT and OT), where they will tear her a new one. They gave Turtle many passes but it was drama for Patrick Leahy (before he retired a couple years ago) when they were wheeling him into the Senate after hip surgeries -

The problem is the rank hypocrisy of the GOP along with their lapdog M$M, with their complete lack of any decency attacking Democrats experiencing health issues (they worked over Fetterman when he had a stroke, demanded that Biden resign for what they allege are "health issues", and I won't even get into Dianne Feinstein or RGB fiasco and their continual drumbeat demanding they leave).

Its not like one day Granger woke up with a case of the dementia.

If they would allow proxy voting like was done under Democrats when we controlled the House, this whole thing wouldn't have been an issue.
