Giuliani urges judge not to reveal why his former lawyers quit in defamation case from election workers

Rudy Giuliani is asking a federal judge in New York not to release court documents detailing why his two attorneys suddenly quit while representing him in the receivership case concerning the $148 million he owes to the two Georgia election workers he defamed.
The defamed election workers Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea ArShaye Shaye Moss have been in ongoing and often contentious litigation with Giuliani to collect on that judgment.
The filing, from Giulianis new attorney, Joseph M. Cammarata, came in response to U.S. District Judge Lewis J. Liman ordering Giuliani and the plaintiffs in the case to inform the court whether they objected to unsealing the declarations from Giulianis former lead attorney, Kenneth Caruso, and former co-counsel, David Labkowski, regarding why they chose to withdraw from representing the former New York City mayor a move they made without informing their client.
In response, Giuliani argued that Caruso and Labkowski should never have filed their motions to withdraw with the court, but even so, the motions were rendered moot once Giuliani, his former attorneys, and Cammarata signed a consent order granting substitution of attorney. The consent order was filed one day after Caruso and Labkowski sought to withdraw from the case, but Liman did not immediately sign the order.

(17,381 posts)his financial status. My guess is it revolves around his reputed alcoholism, a character trait that made him impossible to work with, or something else that rendered him unable to participate constructively in his own defense or to comprehend the legal proceedings. (Obviously just pure speculation).

(25,428 posts)The fact that Ghouliani wants to hide it suggests that the documents reveal that he asked his attorneys to do something illegal and they refused so they didn't end up going to prison with him.

I'd want that information sealed, too.

(17,381 posts)a sack of shit, I mean even the Hillside Stranglers found legal representation. The "Sacramento Vampire" was psychotic and had attorneys. Charles Ng. Lawrence Bittaker. The list of sacks of shit who had attorneys is gargantuan.

(3,799 posts)In Bankruptcy Court the plaintiff (Ghouliani) has to prove his case beyond any counter case. Two issues are paying for the attorneys and the other more serious is trying to get them to lie.

(1,220 posts)Which considering Mr. Giulianis lies landed him in this hot pot, seems quite sufficient rationale to me.

1. He's broke!
