The bald eagle is officially America's national bird after Biden's signature

The bald eagle has landed in U.S. Code as President Joe Biden signed a bill Tuesday making the predator the official national bird

Congress passed the measure with unanimous support.

Although the bird of prey is at the center of the Great Seal of the United States, it was never formally recognized as the country's official bird. Some of the country’s founding fathers, Benjamin Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, were tasked with creating a national seal but simply couldn't come to an agreement.

So in 1782, a version of the seal with a bald eagle was submitted by Secretary of the Continental Congress Charles Thomson and approved. Most Americans are familiar with the seal's eagle carrying a flag-emblazoned shield holding an olive branch in one talon and arrows in the other.

Don’t really care.

Great that the eagle is looked after from an environmental standpoint.

And the House and Senate vote was unanimous! Good, because you'd have to be an anti-American to vote against this bill.

accept that the eagle wasn't the national symbol and then draft and present the legislation.

The credit really shouldn't go to the inspector's stamp but to the craftsman.

Thank you, Mr. Cook.

Maybe a dyed, combed-over, blow-dried, hairsprayed eagle. That would be the baddest eagle in history.
